This gets, for example:

  • single vision pair from $50
  • multifocals from $125
  • a pair of polarised multifocal sunglasses with 1.6 lenses for $187.5. This is quite good if you have extras cover - it is very hard to get that kind of price at Specsavers or Optically or Clearly or other places that allow health fund claiming.

If you don't have extras cover and don't need multifocals, cheaper options are available elsewhere (at Zenni, muukal etc). But a quick spot check of a few frames at Zenni shows that Dresden is slightly cheaper than Zenni for most multifocal options with this deal.

Discount applies to everything - frames, glasses, thinner lens, polarising etc etc.

T&C’s: During the sale period same day service is not available, and some orders may take slightly longer than usual. The 50% discount applies to new orders only, not applicable to existing orders. The 50% discount is limited to 5 pairs per order. The 50% discount applies to all prescription and non-prescription glasses. The 50% discount excludes BYO frame fittings, contact lenses and all other accessories and optometry services. Discount is only available per person and can’t be split between multiple people. Discount can’t be used in conjunction with any other campaigns, promotions or discounts. Add items to cart and use code: flash50 Free shipping on online orders only, with a minimum spend of $125. Available in-store, online and over the phone. Offer ends midnight, 6th May, 2024.

  • Sunglasses, you're right. Thats not a bad deal.

But regular prescription glasses are still cheaper at EyeBuyDirect.
My specialist scans them (I change glasses every 3 months or so thanks to a degenerative nightmare :P) and they're always accurate.
So unless you have very different eye heights or something that needs manual lens-to-pupil centering, I can vouch for their quality.

Muukal does complete single vision glasses for $11.45 USD delivered. Very few places can beat that. :)

      • True!
I've not used them though, so I can't vouch for their accuracy.

I can vouch for them. :)

          • @mjwills: You are not working for them , are you?

            • @HolyCr4p: Nope. But I do enjoy their product (both muukal and dresden).

dresden's multifocal prices really are crazy cheap if you have health insurance. A great benefit for those like me who are getting on in years. :)

Glad I'm not the only one. Shoulda gone to Specsavers…oh wait

  • Store name in the title?

  • Interesting. My sunnies are currently held together by tape so this is very down my alley. Too bad they only have a single design though :\

  • Are any metal or memory frames. I quickly tired of looking.

    • No - they have a single frame design. All you are choosing is colour.

  • 50 for single vision lens frame is good.. how much extra would it be to have transition (or whatever its called now) as well?

    • edit,.. they dont do it??? they only do clear or blue light lenses.. no transitions.. weird.. maybe so they can also sell prescription sunnies but that's kinda stupid imo

The term you are looking for is "photochromic". They do sell them. For my prescription it would be a minimum of $200 (vs $130 without photochromic) for single vision - thus $100 tomorrow. Enter your prescription to confirm what it would be for you.

Be careful since photochromic gray is $70, but photochromic brown is $170.

If you aren't seeing photochromic then make sure you started by selecting sunglasses, not glasses.

A friendly reminder that photochromic does not work inside your car.

If you prefer face to face, you can use this instore - I found their staff much more pleasant to deal with than your average Specsavers (much less upselling etc).

  • Anyone have experience with sizing? Going off their guide apparently im kinda in the middle of small or medium, wonder if anyone knows if they are a bit bigger than expected or?

    • What are the three numbers on the sides of your existing glasses?

      • thanks for replying!

my main pair is 52-18-140 and i have another which is 52-17-140

looks like medium is the go !

Medium-medium or medium-large (your frame and arms can be different) looks likely yeah.

My previous glasses were 52-17-140 - but always falling off my head. With Dresden I have small frame, medium arms. A little tighter on the face but now never falls off. Very comfortable.
