Hi everyone.
I am after a laptop for my son going into high school.
He wants to do both school work and gaming on it (Roblox, Beam NG Drive mainly). An RTX 4060 would be ideal but will this chew the battery too much?
Any recommendations on brands and good deals?
Budget is around $1700 maximum. Sadly needs to be purchased asap so cannot wait for EOY specials.

Adding onto @djkelly69's point above, a $1,700 device going into high school is a big risk. Even if your kid's careful with it, there's still every chance some other kid knocks it over/tramples over his school bag and something breaks.

Most likely a 4060 laptop is slight overkill for Roblox/beam ng. At max a 3060 would be needed. Additionally a 4060 will go through a standard laptop battery in about 1.5 hours.
Is there a reason he needs to game on his school laptop? Personally I would try to keep both separate unless there was a compelling reason they need to both be done on one machine.
I think a ~$800-1k school laptop and a ~$800 gaming desktop might be a better idea if feasible.
