They were $62 without a discount 2 days ago lol. Not so much of a “bargain” or not because of the 10% discount.

Where do you see this? I checked 3x camels and this was the lowest price. Happy to learn a new database to check before posting

      • Okay my bad another variant must have been $62 I guess because I bought one and my one was $67

  • That "up to 2.5x faster" graph in product pics is misleading at best lol

  • If it is a unmanaged switch and support vlan (by dip switch) how can you configure multiple vlan on this thing?

    • +1

I think it's just port isolation

  • +3

    I can see 4x 2.5gbit + 2x 10gb SFP+ or 5 + 1 for around this price on Ali.

I think the only real benefit this one would have is the vlan dip switches and easier returns/shipping I guess.

    • Yeah 5 port at 2.5Gb seems pretty niche, really needs a 10Gb port

  • Seems pretty pricey.

For a dumb switch ~$60 is really not that bad. But I would get the 4x2.5GbE+2xSFP+ models in this listing (seems there's a more compact one and a larger one to choose from). The moment your network get a 10G device, you'll miss those SFP ports.

If you need a management switch for proper VLAN, etc. I imported a Hasivo 4x2.5GbE+1x10GbE+1xSFP+ (Review on STH) for ~$110 (or ~$135 on AliExpress) and pretty happy about it. Not even hot for a switch with 10GBASE-T port built-in. Quite a versatile design.

what is the difference between this that and this https://www.centrecom.com.au/tp-link-10100-mbps-5-port-deskt…

    • 2.5G vs 1G

      • +1

        It's not even that. 100Mbps.

    • +1

You can barely send a email on the switch you posted (exaggeration of course). 100mbps is so old and outdated even IPS’s using faster speeds let alone a local nectwork…

    • TIL you can still buy 10/100 switches new

  • I just want one for the Home "entrainment" factor :-D

  • +1

How many people have more then one device at home with a 2.5G NIC.Anyone that does is most likely going to want a managed switch.
https://www.amazon.com.au/D-Link-DGS-1005A-Energy-Efficient-… $22 is a better choice for a 5 port home switch imo.

    • +1

2.5G NIC is just $14, so most would upgrade existing PCs now. 10G is still bit expensive but used X540 is but cheap, but it can't negotiate at 2.5G though.

  • I got Keeplink 8 port + SFP for $70 from Aliexpress recently, works well with RTL8125B for $14
