Youi - Anyone Experience on How Long It Takes to Resolve Claim in Write off Situation

We recently had a write off situation where the car was flooded in recent storm.

Youi has been terrible experience so far and don't really get clear answers.

Just wondering how long does it typically take for them to resolve the claim and do the payout?

Also, are insurers typically good in coming up with fair market price or do you typically need to challenge that and go through that hassle as well?

Reason we expect its a write off is that the towing company said that they were taking the car to the yard where they typically write off cars.

Next interaction, ask for a complaint to be submitted and the expected time before an internal dispute resolution rep is to be in contact.

Keep a record of each time period.

Submit AFCA, but make sure you've at least gotten a complaint reference and you've given Youi time to respond (usually 10 business days) so get that initial complaint lodged asap with youi

    • Thanks a lot for the tip. Appreciate it. I'll do this tomorrow.

My car was written off just over two years ago. I was insured with youi but for agreed value. It took 3 weeks to receive my payout with several follow up phone calls in between.

    Insurance that’s a bit more you-shaped.

Are you personally unreliable and very flakey? If youi really is "you-shaped" then maybe they are just mirroring how you operate day to day.

  • when did you submit your claim?

      • Have you been offered a rent a car to cover not having a vehicle?

Ring and ask and see if your insurance will pay to get you something while they sort it out.

At the least that will get the moving because they wo t want to pay for a rental car.

  • Picton? I saw a few cars flooded in the carpark at Davidson Ln a couple weeks back.

    • Sydney. It was just unlucky where one small section has blocked drain and few parked cars for flooded

      • How deep was your car? Interior wet?

  • 2 weeks sounds like its getting a bit long. They meed to get an assessor to check the vehicle, then it should be fairly quick to determine of it os a weite off or not.

I wonder if it is Sydney or regional NSW?
Loss adjustors can get busy (swamped) if lots of claims at once and it delays things.

      • Sydney.

  • Had a similar experience with Youi for a repair. I was not at fault, other driver admitted guilt yet it took just over 4 weeks for them to start the ball rolling. Once the car was repaired I left youi ASAP.

If "you" leave Youi, we are just left with "i"

Time to buy vowels and consonant… lol

    • Yeah i don't think we would use Youi again.

Their quote system of enter some details and well call you 'for a better deal' model was enough of a turn off for me.

If youve got some scripted prompts to cut your premiums, just put them in the online form. I dont have time to do the quote twics.

  • They were pretty good when my sister's car was stolen and subsequently written-off. She had the payout in her account within about a fortnight of the car being written-off by their assessor. The only drama arose when her new car finally arrived at the dealership, three months later. When she went to insure the new car with Youi she was penalised for not having uninterrupted insurance cover - I thought that was rough (although doubtless it's technically correct!).

    • Thanks for sharing. So accessor gave them fair price of their car?
