$40 for travel pillow? They're even cheaper than that at the airport even with the markup lol

This is one of the top reviewed travel pillows in the world and sells for $80 at Melbourne Airport.

  • I bought this one for $59.99 at Brisbane Airport last year. Honestly, it was not better than the $10 one I'd left in the taxi.

  • I have this one. Have used it on a few flights including a 9 hour overnight flight. It's pretty good. The sides are high and firm which helps keep your neck stable.
Felt like an awkward posture at the start but it worked. Fell asleep for hours and woke up with no sore neck!

I bought one of these a month ago (when it was on sale on Amazon for the same price as this deal).

It's very good and substantially better quality than any other travel pillow I've used. I used it for a return flight to Singapore (red eye and day flights) and loved it. Would definitely recommend. This + Sony WH-XM5s made my 7 hour flight a breeze and one of the comfiest I've ever had.

    Pros -
Clip to secure the pillow together is nice
Very plump and strong. It's way sturdier than I expected, in line with extra firm memory foam pillows.
Good quality material and feels nice.
Is very snug around your neck. Will keep your head centred and upright.

    Cons-
It doesn't squish down too much. If you're expecting to compress it and put it in your carry on, but something else.
Very snug fit around your neck, so will prop it up straight. Makes it a bit annoying if you want to keep it around your neck but then lean to a side or angle your neck.
Can interfere/be a bit tricky to get super comfortable if you're wearing headphones with it. I was using it with slim Sony WH-XM5, if using bulkier headphones, might be a deal breaker.

    • Could you actually attach it to the headrest? How exactly and what seat does it take? Was is practical?

      • I don't think it's very practical. It has 2 vertical velcro straps loops at the back of it, that lets you attach it to the adjustable headrest on the aeroplane seat. It depends on the style of the adjustable headrest. I tested it and in that position for me it sat too high and wasn't that comfortable. Was better just on my neck with the clip at the front.

        • What I thought.

Looks brilliant in the pics - is impractical or not even applicable IRL.

I used it recently on a trip to England. As long as your seat has one of those adjustable head rests that you can move up and down that has the wings on it it works well. The straps each go around a wing of the headrest.

The biggest issue I had with it was it goes pretty high up near your ears and can interfere with headphones, but you can kind of cram it down and jam them in and it works.

On one of the legs I got a good 5 hours of sleep which is massively more than I got on prior trips and made it totally worth the price

  • I recently got this, I was sceptical but mrs bought it. Its actually really good. Tall and firm so your head doesn't fall off your neck. All those other cheap ones actually do nothing as it doesn't bridge the gap between your shoulders and jaw line. Closest thing to a soft c-spine collar

  • Has anyone tried this type? I'm curious!

Kmart's Inflatable Front Travel Pillow $18.00

    • I'm not sure about this review. That it attaches to the headrest is mentioned multiple times, but I don't see HOW it's going to attach TBH. It may take a very specific kind of headrest - you surely can't just make it a belt around the whole seat's top part, as that's going to go over the screen of the person behind you.

Also that "92% of airplane passengers report discomfort due to excess heat" in the second photo smells a little like marketing BS.

      • Attaches to the wings of headrest

        • Yeah, that's what's being mentioned, but it doesn't sound like a surefire thing, ie. if the wings of the headrest are rounded, this is goind to slip. And also you don't always get such wings there.

          • +1

@pizzaguy: Nah it doesn't slip because the straps are mounted more "inboard" than the wings extend, and the straps are slightly stretchy, so they're pulled inwards, rather than slipping off. If there's not separate headrest supposedly you can tie it around the whole seat, but that would depend on whether you can accomplish that without upsetting the person behind you, and i think you'd sacrifice some up and down height adjustment, in that case it's just a decent quality of standard neck pillow.

  • Does anyone have tips/other travel utilities for lower back pain for flights? that one wakes me up more than my neck tbh

Was almost considering wearing a weightlifting belt

    • I stuff the airline pillow and blanket behind my back and then tinker with the combo until i feel comfortably supported.

  • I have a Cabeau travel pillow, not sure if its this model but looks very similar. It gets quite hot wrapped snugly around the neck, I end up not using it after a couple of hours.

  • Every single part that can snap off mine has in around 4-5 use.
The straps that hold to the back off the seat fell off within a couple trips, and after the 5th use the one that ties them together has fallen off.
