This is the trade off here. Above decent boom but muddied mids from the soundcore vs clarity and acceptable boom from the JBL. I favour the Soundcore, and love the equaliser to suit my music/mood.
It's a lot of speaker for $81
Great speaker, great price
Great speaker.
I got this at $129 and would easily pay it again. Great battery life, nice and loud. Make sure you get the mobile app (that puts the rest to shame?) to control the equaliser.
PS. At $81, I just bought another one.
What's the battery life like,
eg. in terms of 'running hours' (at moderate 70% volume) ?I have a JBL charge 3, and I would say the battery life is comparible.
I think the battery life says 24 hours. Realistically, this thing goes for days, if not a week before a recharge is needed. The battery percentage shows in the app. You kind of sense a when a recharge is needed, due to usage.
You can also plug in your battery pack if you get caught out mid session.
I think the JBL Charge sounds better, unless one splurges on a Bose Soundlink.
Then again, sometimes, battery life is necessary, and Anker are already making very good powerbank products, so they know how to design energy-efficient products.
@whyisave: Have you got both JBL Charge and the Bose Soundlink to make this comparison?
@Magik: I've got neither of them, but i've heard the JBL briefly in-store and the BOSE at a friend's place.
@whyisave: Hearing it briefly and owning the product can have vastly different experiences.
Battery life on this thing is amazing. I’ve had mine for a few years. Easily one of the better purchases in this price bracket over the past few years and I use it a lot listening to podcasts in the shower to having music on when cleaning the garage or woodworking (headphones on for power tools though) and even when working out.
Had constant issues with my JBL charge 5. Pulled the trigger on this. Thanks OP.
Would this be worth upgrading to from a JBL Charge 3? Someone give me a reason to add to cart lol.
Much bigger sound. I'd def consider it an upgrade. Depends what you're after.
smaller than it looks….will sound ok if placed directly on a thick wood table
That price looks decent.
What is the weight of this Soundcore speaker?
My newsletter code ends in QA1IS. Can someone confirm if it is generic? If so we can add it to the op.
No, mine is different.
This or the motion+ in Amazon for $109
The Motion+ is excellent I've picked up a second one this week (it has no aux latency which was important for me - I couldn't confirm if the Motion Boom did)

No Aux port at all with the Motion Boom.
That Rtings.com review you linked says 297ms and 223ms of Bluetooth Lag for IOS and Android respectively, and does not recommend watching videos with the Motion Boom.
I own a couple, and to be honest I can work with it. It's not perfect and there is definitely a noticeable delay in some cases, but no deal breaker for video content at least. YouTube seems fine for whatever reason, and VLC obviously you can just adjust the delay.
However, I primarily use phones/tablets/PC. TVs and what not might be a different story if that is what you are planning.
Regardless, it's a steal at $81.
Either is good. The difference is that this has more bass but less clear mids.
Soundcore Boom 2 came out a few months ago. Yea it's more than double this price (currently $219 on Amazon) but it does have more than double the power, latest Bluetooth (Ver 5.3). The older model is around 4 years old now. I will wait a few months for Boom 2 specials to nab it, would be good to get it for around $130 - $150.
Can you pair these and use in stereo?
Googled…looks like you can.
Does anyone have a newsletter code they can share with me? I have signed up but the code hasn't been sent.
Here's the code I received, you can have it… NEWVTCWBR
Yeah they didn't seem to be giving the 10% off code anymore. If anyone has a spare I would appreciate it.
Edit, just got offered the code so all good.anyone happen to know if you can pair a Motion+ with a Motion Boom and use them together in stereo?
the answer is no :(
Damn thought I could go stereo with my existing flare 2 :(
is this eshay certified?
Time to ruin the beach for everyone else…
How do you get the 10% percent off?
I signed up for the news letter but didn't get any. When you sign up, the code appears straight away on the website when you enter your email address.
If you missed it, try incognito mode with a 10 minute email address.

Anyone care to share their favourite EQ settings for the Motion Boom?
I am currently using a variation of these settings, was not a fan of Alan Ross EQ (shamelessly copied from VonDinky on Reddit)
80 +8 (+5/+6 indoor)
150 +4 (+2/+3 indoor)
300 -1
600 -2
1.2k +1
2.5k +1 or +2
5k +6
9k +6
13k +1
This is so down to your preference and music, and I have about 5 saved settings. But, this is a general go to, nice and loud for everyday music:
7,8,6,6,4,4,7,8,6
24H playtime is fantastic. I remember my JBL GO only have 4H playtime which feels like a joke.
Great price on this unit. Good find. All time low on Amazon is $108 from memory.
Ordered Plus version 🙏
Keep trying to order it but they just cancel my order and refund me ?
My order on the 30th of April hasn't been cancelled but now past the 3 to 7 business days shipping and no replies from Soundcore when I asked for ETA. I'm having doubts of my order getting fulfilled especially if soundcore are cancelling orders.
Not a big fan versus my old JBL charge (4?). It's boomy, and the sound is quite muddied unless the speaker is at ear level.
