I bought 2 boxes of Chocolate Brownies and tried a few. Anyone close to 2113 I can just give it to you. Not my cup of tea.

    • happy to take some off you, im just at epping!

      • Sure thing. Send me a message so we can arrange a time. Your messaging is disabled.

    • Alas, that's not a great flavour. Nor is the choc-chip IMO.
The Peanut Butter Banana combo and the Choc Mint are both my picks.
That being said, I do like to have an option of different flavour when I'm out for many hour adventures.

      • Nor is the choc-chip IMO

Really? Choc chip is my go-to. Just got back from a month-long trip driving across North America and I always had a box of these on hand for a quick snack / getting stuck in the snow.

      • I thought the flavour of Choc Brownies was OK at least (not great) but my biggest problem was that it took forever to eat, just really dry and tough. Huge difference to the White Chocolate Macadamia which was tasty and could be eaten quickly (so you can get back to the business of recovering from whatever effort you just did). Crunchy Peanut Butter is decent (it's a bit single minded on the flavour but is not bad - probably slightly less tasty/easy to eat than the WCM but not by a big margin), and I think the Cool Mint Choc is quite good as well

    • I'd also be keen of things fall through with Jayysun! I work at Macquarie Park Monday-Friday to nice and easy. But no pressure. Cheers!

    • Would love to grab a couple if you have any left :)

  • So good for an energy bar. Great find

Seems amazon au has price matched the 12 pack. Free shipping with prime.

  • Are these any good from a macro/health perspective? Seems they might be too high in sugar and carbs? Any gym goers can weigh in on this?

    • You're not wrong. At 30% sugar, these are probably better classified as confectionary.
17g of sugar is a tad over three teaspoons per bar.

I view them as emergency/energy bars. Primarily a sugar boost with a little bit of protein for afternoon hikes, getting stuck in the snow, etc.

if this is code for visiting the mother in law, then perfect, thanks OP.

@rawm: It's not, but sure. Also I meant "for the afternoon on hikes".

      • Thanks for this. I ordered the 12 pack from Amazon and then immediately cancelled when I read the amount of sugar it has in your comment. Was actually looking to get it as a pre gym workout.

My understanding is that these aren't really a "gym" food. They're an "endurance athlete" food.

      • +1

They're a "pretend I'm eating healthy stuff while consuming sweets" pretend food.

        • They have there place. For endurance events / training it can be hard to ingest enough calories to keep up with what is being burnt.

But if you're just using this as an everyday general snack then you're quite right.

    • +1

I use these for Bushwalking and, Cycling (Strzelecki Ranges), as I believe they have both fast and slow release carbs, protien and energy. But as mentioned above they're ideal for endurance athletes.

Yeah, they're terrible, you are indeed correct. Like most things in the "health" aisle at Woolies, it's sweets marketed as health food.

        Nah, just horses for courses.

Clif bars are great for long (>1hr) runs, or full day hikes where you don't want / can't carry a lot of "normal food".

But yeah, I wouldn't eat these just as regular snacks - neither would I drink energy drinks for thirst sitting at my desk.
