Anyone Have an Electrical Adjustable Bed? Looks for Suggestions

Hi guys,

Mum wants an adjustable electric bed (health reasons), the ones where you use a remote & can incline/decline the head and feet sections (like a hospital bed). Does anyone use one or have any recommendations on them? She's asked me to look into it for her, but I'm a dumbsh*t & have no idea what I'm looking at. These things look expensive, so I'm not sure if what you're getting is good price or not.

The one she's eyeing off I believe is this one https://comfortsleeping.com.au/motion-essential-electric-adj…, though she wants to go there & look at it in person first.

Anyone familiar with these beds, have used these beds, or know a thing-or-two about these types of beds? Any ozbargain recommendations or suggestions on a particular bed, or any current deals happening?

Shes after a split-Queen/split-double style.

My mother got one and said it was the best thing she ever bought. It's a double ex-hospital bed. Without it she wouldn't be able to get up, she'd be stuck like a turtle on its back, haha.

Depends what she’s looking for as in to sit her up in bed, help eleviate back pain or relieve swelling in legs or to help getting in and out of bed. There’s essentially three adjustments to consider, the back coming up to assist sitting in bed or sleeping with head in an elevated position, knee brace/leg elevation to raise legs which can assist with back pain or leg oedema, it also stops the person sliding down the bed or loading their sacrum too much if their using the elevated backrest. Finally you can get a bed where the actual bed comes up and down. This can assist making the bed higher or lower to assist with transferring out of bed (higher is generally easier) or an a carer providing care without bending too much. Tempur is a well known brand for the first two features, not cheap but heaps second hand on market place. Find out more about what your mum wants it for and consider how well she is ageing and likelihood she’ll need more assistance in the future. Also consider what kind of mattress, as some do the mattresses that come default with these aren’t all that comfortable not suitable for typical sprung mattresses.

If it was me I’d go tempur and if cost is an issue get the mattress new and base second hand if cost is an issue. Also never pay retail for a tempur mattress, at least 50% off rrp is standard.
