    Not trying to bag these but Are any of these courses actually any good and worth people’s time?

    I keep these kind of deals popping up often. Does anyone ever pay these $30? And do these actually develop your skills meaningfully enough to get jobs in the fields etc especially for programming?

      I am going through python data visualisation course at the moment. I am 20% in and can confirm it is actually not bad. I don’t know what level it will end up at 100% but now I know things that I didn’t know before - charting outside excel using manual commands feel really awesome.

      Think of it as going from 0% knowledge to having enough to talk and understand things and create basic stuff.
      Obviously thereafter you gotta work on it outside the course, where some of those Youtube channels can help and continue advancing yourself.

      I'm a hiring manager in the data industry and I cringe if people have a bunch of Udemy courses on their CV. There's no quality control.

      I much prefer to see a GitHub portfolio, a blog, maybe a Streamlit app.

          There's plenty from AWS or Azure, but specifically to ML the devs of sklearn run a free online course. It's miles better than anything I've had the displeasure of seeing out of Udemy.

        I used to hire for cloud / Devops jobs a few times a year.

        AWS certifications, Azure certs and a Github portfolio as well as experience were what we cared about.

        Also, don't try and cheat on remote interviews.

        I get what you're saying about the quality control. I'm in the industry - and it's a real pity because there are a few Udemy data courses that are actually way, way better than the Microsoft certs. I know because I've done lots of both and work on the technology professionally.

      Think of these as hands on skills on a topic. The course alone won’t be enough to make a profession out of it, although it has become a trend these days to shove as much of these as possible into one’s linkedin / resume.
      From my experience i prefer to check for reviews and jump on short courses than commit to 100-200hr long courses unless ofcourse i know the authors’ content is worth taking a deep dive into with my personal time. Ymmv ofcourse.

      These courses serves as BASIC STRUCTURED INFORMATION, rather thousands of random Youtube videos. You can consider them as a Starting Point.

      Once, you have been through a course, its much easier to seek advance information/tips and tricks etc from youtube, fb groups or have conversation with someone.
