Here we go again, any Type O fans out there.
Well I’m sure this will ruffle some feathers because of its price. The first standalone release on vinyl for the album Life Is Killing Me from 2003 (as long you don’t count the mispress from January this year) from Type O Negative.

Now before everyone starts ripping this post apart, I had a look around and have found this particular reissue elsewhere for $130-$135 + shipping, so this in fact is a “deal”. Amazon UK has this for $115.01 if you’d prefer to wait 1 to 4 weeks for it to be despatched.

Alas, if you can find it cheaper anywhere else, please post in the comments and I’ll update the post.

Enjoi….

Thank you Josh, Ken, John and R.I.P Peter Steele.

Edit : The price has now dropped to $100.08

I freaking love this album. So many amazing songs on it. It's wild to me that all the drums are programmed.

      Great album start to finish.

Agreed, I couldn't believe when I read a couple weeks back that John programmed the drums on all of the albums he played on, bar their last album.

i found this shitty album at an op shop for $1

    • Bargain lol!

    • Metal is pretty niche. Wouldn't surprise me if the average person has never heard of this band or any of their songs.

      • Yes some styles of music aren't for everyone where as chart stuff is meant for the average person where it's kind of like background music that's not very discernible from itself or any other artists in it's genre or scope.

      • Why can't people just be normal and listen to Taylor Swift :) Or they can save $108 and listen to the full album legally for free on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=949Kl2yXWhU

        • You just reminded me of a quote I read the other day, so here you go.

"What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos… that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?"

          -Rob Gordon

  • I'm not really a fan (certainly appreciate them though) but think this band would sound incredible on vinyl.

    • +2

it actually sounds worse on vinyl , as it was recorded digitally

      • So you've got this album on vinyl? Don't tell me that as I've ordered myself a copy🙄?

        • -1

yeh, and the cd sounds better tbh

          • @darkmoss: Which vinyl release do you have?

            • @scooba: this one

              • @darkmoss: How'd you get your hands on it so quick?

                • @scooba: at shop

                  • @darkmoss: Which shop? That's some good service.

                    • @scooba: not gonna dox myself scooba, but yeah great service..

                      • @darkmoss: How would you dox yourself by posting the retailer you got it from?

Sounds like they deserve the business if they're doing what sounds like a damn fine job!

You can hear the difference between music recorded on tape and music recorded digitally?

        • +1

          Yep, unless its a DAT

        • big time, yeh u can

          • -1

@darkmoss: Can you still hear it even if you don't already know which the master source is? What if you don't already know what the master source usually is for the genre, so you can't just intuit that all modern rap is recorded digitally or that best selling country singers almost always use analogue tape.

            • +1

@AustriaBargain: i can tell if a record pressed to vinyl has used tape vs digital source. .
in saying that, a digital source can still sound good on vinyl to my ears, if done well.. but nothing beats analogue to analogue.
but, Well, you know, that's just like uh, my opinion, man.

              • -1

@darkmoss: But if the microphones used to record it are using digital amplification or whatever, then is it really analogue? Shouldn't the band be playing into a giant cone etching sound directly into a record for it to be pure analogue?

    • +1

Bloody Kisses : Suspended In Dusk 30th Anniversary reissue came out this earlier this year which I was really happy to get my hands on. Shame I missed the 2021 reissue of October Rust, hopefully it gets another reissue sometime soon….
