Any Chemical Brothers fans out there?

A great album by the brothers across 2 LP's including the tracks Block Rockin' Beats, Elektrobank, Setting Sun, It Doesn't Matter and Where Do I Begin featuring Beth Orton on vocals.

Enjoi….

Edit : For the people saying it's not a good price and it's cheaper at JB & the like, I should've posted what I originally thought I should post which was "This is a good deal if you have Prime because if you order elsewhere that has it for a similar price you'll be paying postage on top".

Downvote me if you like, just sharing some decent music instead of the usual pop posts. Thanks, I think?

Edit 2 : Just so we’re clear, I’m not handing out ANY downvotes in regards to this deal and I do mean ANY! I have been giving out upvotes though so enjoi!

Thanks for reading my blog lol.

Doesn't seem to be a good price.

    • -4

For an album consisting of 2 LP's it's not bad either. I've paid $58 for a single LP album a couple of weeks back and $107 for an album across 3 LP's today.

I should've put what I normally put in my posts which is, "It's an ok price in the scheme of vinyl pricing".

      • +4

It's cheaper at JB, Dutch Vinyl, Utopia. It's not even a great price on Amazon according to the camels.

          • +2

@scooba: Some of these places are close to people. Go read my other lengthy post. I'm not trying to bag your deal.

            • @ozbs25: And some of these places are remote for some people and I did read it bud. I appreciate you not bagging my deal👍🏻.

      How much for delivery mate?

      • +2

Free. I can go get it when I do my grocery shopping tomorrow.

          • +3

@scooba: Look, I'm not looking to bag your post. I didn't neg it after all. I'm just pointing it out so that people know that it has been and is currently cheaper at more than just the one place. I can even just pop down to a local JB and grab a copy when I go and get my milk tomorrow.

It's good to see different stuff on OzBargain. I'm not against vinyl at all. I may even buy some one day but right now I don't have a player and the rest of my equipment isn't good enough to make it worthwhile. This could very well be a deal for people, like you said that don't have a JB with a copy near them. Again, I didn't neg your post. I don't think it's neg worthy.

I guess the only thing that irks me is the frequency of vinyl posts. If there are a few obscure vinyl posts within a short period of time then it does get a bit annoying. There is a dedicated vinyl thread in the forums.

            • -3

@ozbs25: No problem, I'm all for constructive criticism.

It would be nice if a friend of mine could pick this album up when he went to get his milk tomorrow, but he lives in a regional area and his nearest JB is a 140 kilometre round trip.

I looked at the prices around the traps before I posted this deal and saw it was $3 cheaper elsewhere but silly me didn't think it would matter to much but I do forget this is OzBargain and shouldn't expect people to understand that some people aren't living in a city or large town with some of the major retailers.

My fault, I'll do better to specify in my descriptions from now on.

I guess it could be annoying for some if there was heaps of vinyl posts as it's kinda a niche thing, in saying that, if I see 2 albums cheap from the same artist I'll post the second one in the description like I did with my Nirvana post.

Not sure if I've ever looked in the dedicated vinyl thread in the forums, thanks for the heads up👍🏻.

          • +7

@scooba: Bloody hell mate, settle down lol
Bit sensitive and defensive over a reply to your post. They're simply pointing out they can get it for x-amount.
You forgot to add the carbon tax on the air we breath and the cow's poop killing the Earth. Gotta consider those things too when picking up a copy cheaper at JB

            • +1

@teddiebear: Whoops! I’ll type my replies differently from now on so I don’t seem so offended.
I know I know, the OzBargain penny pinchers are having a bloodbath with the downvotes because it’s $3 cheaper elsewhere lol.

              • @scooba: Lmao well that is the point of this site. It just came across to me that you were mega-defending the post with costs that can be absorbed into other things. Eg; doing groceries at the same time to make it worth while.
Anyhooooo yes people get excited over saving $0.10… but that's 10c better off in their pockets than in a mega company's pocket.

                • @teddiebear: No need to tell me pal, I can see there’s some really hungover people posting today.

You know what happens when you assume, right?

Yes I’m sure a friend of mine who’s closest JB HIFI that’s 140 kilometre round for him, will be fine with picking up his milk after using all that petrol to get $10 off a Chemical Brothers record that he could’ve ordered from Amazon then walked down the road to his local IGA.

It’s Saturday mate, take a breath and no I didn’t have any drinks last night👍🏻.

    • +4

Showing $39.99 for me - $10 off special.

      • Gee it wasn’t that price yesterday when I posted it lol.

    • +2

It’s $39.99 at JB now lol
No deal to be seen here.

      • “Now”

Geez Louise, your hangover must be intense today!

  • -4

Vinyl should have died a long time ago.

    • -4

      No you're thinking of CD's.

      • +2

I don't think so. On paper CD is superior in every way.

        • -6

          "On paper".🙄

As soon as the web came along CD's became irrelevant, a digital file is a digital file whether it's on a disc or downloaded from the web in MP3, FLAC or WAV.

          • +2

@scooba: So what's the advantage of vinyl when we have digital?

            • -1

@Mondorock: Tell you what, do a search online, come back at me with what you read were the best advantages of vinyl over CD are, then we’ll compare notes.

              C’mon, I dare ye!

            • @Mondorock: I listen to my vinyl albums while driving in my car..

I do have to drive very slowing and avoid any bumps.. But man.. the quality..

  • +4

Brings back so many memories :-)

    Great album

  • +4

Great album! Loved me some chemical Brothers back in the day, will have to go re listen to it cheers.

    • +3

They toured here just a couple of months ago - still banging, lots of young crowd too.

  • +3

You now have the cymbals from it doesn’t matter looping in your head.

    • -1

Or that wonderful bass line break that starts at the 5 minute mark towards the end👍🏻.

  • +3

I can (kind of) see the attraction of old vinyl pressings from analog masters of bands that recorded only on analog equipment.

But the Chemical Brothers put this album together in the mid-90s on a Mac running Cubase.

A vinyl pressing of this album is not bringing you closer to the original recording or giving you a better, truer version - it's literally a digital file pressed onto an obsolete medium of distributing music.

I love this album btw. It's just that I don't see any reason why anyone would buy it on vinyl.

    • +1

Exactly! Huge fan of the album… But in this format, nope!

Plus cheaper elsewhere, this isn't a bargain.

    • -1

i was thinking the game thing… guess its the wank factor

      • +2

It's corksniffing. Same as guitar snobs who claim to be able to hear the difference in 'tonewoods' that the guitars are made from.

        • “Corksniffing”

That’s a new one for me, great term lol.

      • -1

        You guessed wrong pal.

I guess in your world w@nk factor is pretty common but for some of us that just like music, like records, cassettes or digital, no matter the format.

P.S Cassettes and CD’s can go to hell!

  • -7

"it's literally a digital file pressed onto an obsolete medium of distributing music"

    Obsolete for who, you?
I've heard an original 1997 press of this on a setup that wasn't even that great and the playback was really good.

    Each to their own hey?

  • +1

Cheaper at JB, even with the postage.

  • +1

Not cheapest. Also love ops replies

    • (In my worst Elvis voice) “Why thank you, thank you very much”.

  • +2

That 1997 vinyl pressing was made from a digital file that was put together by the Chemical Brothers using mid 90s Akai samplers. Those samplers record and edit sound in 44.1khz 16 bit audio. They were literally working with cd quality sound to make those songs. That recording doesn't mysteriously increase in quality when it's pressed onto a piece of vinyl.

What you're describing is the crown lager effect: there are a subset of people who will buy average beer because it's presented in a premium format.

    • +2

Has anyone in this thread suggested that vinyl is better?
If you don’t like records, fine, but some people do.
You don’t need to keep explaining about 44.1khz 16 bit audio.

    • Well the original press on average equipment sounded pretty damn good to me, whether what you say is true or not, It was nice and clear, walls and windows vibrating from bass, coincidently from memory that was happening quite a bit when the track “It Doesn’t Matter” was playing, which should be the theme for this post.

  • +1

Man… This is my intro to electronic music along with the prodigy, probably 25 years ago. Randomly came across setting sun and I had to have it. Had to travel quite a bit to find the album as most places hadn't even heard about them.

    So many memories.

  • +3

If its cheaper elsewhere you shouldnt post this.

    • Username checks out lol.

  • +2

Great albums. Saw them live multiple times.

Just take L and don't complain about negs. There will always be camel-watchers and people complaining. Just do better research next time.

    Keep posting homie.

    • I welcome the negs bud, it just shows me I have to do better next time and spell it out for “some” people.

I love how it’s been discounted down to $39.99 at JB today after I posted it last night and now some people are saying “now” it’s not a deal.

May the vultures pick my bones clean!

  • +1

$39.95 at my JB, no deal sorry.

  • +2

Whats with all the overpriced crummy vinyl spam recently?

    • -1

Overpriced is right, especially when Taylor’s records are priced at sixty something dollars which is supposed to be a good price according to the post description!

      Weeeeeeeeeeee!

    • +3

It's mostly just one user spamming items from his Amazon wishlist

      • +1

I don’t who downvoted you but lol.

No it was just me looking for cheap records, then because they were at a reasonable price(in the scheme of vinyl pricing), I thought I’d share some deals and give back to the community as most people would say.

Sure, kick sand in my face, I appreciate your upstanding comments and behaviour on my post.
