MacBook Air 13.6" 2022 A$650 on Facebook Marketplace

Come across on Facebook marketplace. Is it too good to be true? Great deal? Or that's the expected price for 2 years old brand new MacBook Air?

I thought it would be useful for someone who is looking for something similar.

Do cash on pickup or you risk getting nothing. It could be stolen but I don't know if there's a way to tell.

    • From what I was told, if the machine has no Apple ID signed in, it’s ok

Also selling a too cheap Dyson v15. It's a scam mate.

    • Yup, a small amount of common sense needs to be applied here. $1,000 discount on a "new" product, account looks like it has been inactive until an hour ago (profile has two image updates, one in 2018, one an hour ago).

99% chance there's a potato in that box or it's stolen.

That's not even the expected price for a used 4 year old M1 Air

  • too cheap to be true = not true.

or……buy and report back, we'll heat the popcorn!

    / thread.

  • So many scams on FB. Dozens of listings for "sealed" MacBooks at half retail price, with free AirPods Max! Marketplace is a wasteland.

  • This listing is no longer available
It may have expired or been sold. Take a look at these other items below.

Did OP buy it already? haha

Thanks for sharing the feedback … no I didn't and don't plan to buy it. I was just curious that it looks too cheap to be true.

If they're not asking for a deposit, their address not suddenly 300km away from you, if they don't have a bunch of things all priced too good to be true, then go and take a look, but rely on your common sense.

Real too good to be true listings are few and far in between, if you've the time to see the ad, chew it over, come here to ask and wait for people's consensus, and it's still there, well… People jump on that sort of opportunities immediately.

Exceptions are bulk/must-take-all listings, whilst I could, most people can't be bothered to break it down and sell off the rest.

  • I wouldn't risk it.
