This. Our contents insurance is almost twice the price of next door (I did identical quotes for both).
Only reason I can guess is because the last residents made a theft claim
You will get money back (for the remainder of your term) when switching insurance. So just get any cheap insurance now, settle in to the house and shop around later.
Consider bundling too with car and other insurance options for a discount.
I shopped around about 12 months ago. Most of the companies are under written by CGU, Alliance and Hollard Insurance. I found that combining home and contents insurance was a lot cheaper than doing two separate policies. I ended up with Wespac. That beat the everyone. I checked every company I could think of.
im with them but just found out their (optional) personal valuables cover is now quite limited compared to a few years ago. Are there any other companies that offer this extras cover?
I always get accidental damage added to my policy. That usually increases the policy a bit. I don't have any personal valuables to add to the policy.
Also just bought in Vic and got the best deal with Honey
budget direct
AAMI have their complete replacement cover. AAMI say this is so that you don't under insure your house, and that they will rebuild or pay out if something happens that they cover. I have that… with my fingers crossed.
But I hate insurance. Such a scam. I've had to claim things in the past. It's so hard to get any money back, and even if you do, it's not enough to pay to fix the problem.
Legit, outside of Insure and Go for travel ive never had good insurance experiences
You just have to do the hard work yourself. Too many variables.
