Interesting world, but combat and stealth are terrible. The game punishes you for exploration with jump scares that will soak up more ammo than you find. Better to Zerg rush through but conserve as much ammo as you can because the game is stingy. And don’t even try stealth unless you like to frustrate yourself because enemy awareness and sight lines seem completely random.

"Interesting world…The game punishes you for exploration"
That's a shame, if the dev bothered making an interesting world they should encourage the player to explore it and take the long way around, rather than railroad you into "Zerg" rushing.

And it'll be left to modders to fix as usual. Let's hope for better from the sequel INDUSTRIA 2

      • I don't know what they are thinking bringing out a second game when the first one has some really easy fixes (as well as some quite challenging ones).

The game starts off with some rather obtuse puzzles, and then suddenly turns into a hard core shooter. I'm sure the intention was that you stealth through these sections, but the stealth is busted, as I said.

      • Don't go too hard on the devs, they are a very small team fresh out of school. This hasn't been made by a multinational with a huge budget.

Given they treat visitors with a 7mb animated gif on the website, they indeed have some bits to learn to care about.

        • I could forgive them on that basis for the bad stealth. I always figured it was an indy team. But the fact that any time I went off the main path I was punished, I can't forgive and that's not about coding, that's just basic game design. Usually in a game if you find some hidden door/corridore/room there is usually something of value there. Yeah, it's a trope that may be overdone, but it sure is fun and that's why it's in games. Exploration is a huge part of my motivation for playing games, and I don't necessarily need extrinsic rewards for doing that, but I certainly don't expect to be punished for it.

Spoiler: At the first large area with proper combat, there is a building to the left that is completely optional. If you fight your way through (lots of jump scares IIRC) there actually is a hidden area right at the end with an actual chest. But it has nothing significant in there. And as I said in my original comment, I certainly burned more resources going in there that I got from that chest and whatever other random stuff and drops I found in there.

I think there are some simple things they could do to improve the first game before expecting anybody to buy the second one, but I can at least admire them for sticking with it and I do hope they make something better. But unless it shows up in a bundle or a key trade, I'd never spend my own money it.

To me, the theme of this game seems to be inspired by the show Counterpart. Not that I've watched it beyond the trailers. Looks like an interesting game anyway, looking forward to it.

    • Interesting point, and yeah, visually it has the same vibe but maybe not so much the theme. I watched maybe a dozen or so episodes of Counterpoint before I fell off it.

Played through this a couple of weeks ago but wouldn't recommend actually playing.

  • I just purchased this, so its still available.

  • $18.95 now. Free seems to be over.
