"Half off", yet expensive.
Still a lot, compared to $7-15 ones you can pick up easy
If you use this sort of thing frequently you’ll quickly work out that capacitive touch buttons suck, cell batteries suck and large bowls have a tendency to cover up the display.
We didn’t buy this brand but did get a unit in this price range and it’s leaps and bounds more usable in the long term than the el-cheapo Anko ones
Then buy this for much less:
Digital Kitchen Scale, [5kg/0.1g] Diyife Rechargeable Food Scale
This scale is great, it's been hard to find an actually good one. I've tried cheapo ones and expensive ones and this is the one that has been the most reliable and least effort to use.
For example, it doesn't turn itself off if you look away from it for a moment, deleting any tare or weighing you had done. It stays on, only dimming the backlight after a spell. If you bake by weight rather than volume (which you should), this is essential.
Also uses normal batteries so you can use rechargeables.
I bought it at full price and am happy, this is a pretty good deal.
it doesn't turn itself off
That's one great feature, but then, it's only up to 2.25 kg - quite limiting, forcing you to use plastic bowls/containers
Don't think I've ever come up against that as an issue and I use metal bowls.
@MagnamoniousRex: Fair enough. My metal mixer bowl weighs around a kilogram, so then 1.25 kg is not much left. The glass jug for my blender is probably closer to 2 kgs.
2.25 kg is merely 2.25 litres of water.
I'm pretty sure that 2.25 kg is enough for some, but absolutely not safe to assume this is versatile.
Also uses normal batteries so you can use rechargeables
There are kitchen scales that don't require any batteries at all. You just wind it up every time you want to use it.
sounds convenient
@Stinger au: sounds like a wind up
Pull-out display is a neat idea (when I have a big bowl on my scales it can be hard to view the screen at an angle) but with a 2.25kg limit you're not going to be putting too much big stuff on this one
This is the standard price if you look at the 3xCamels data. Never been listed above $65 and pretty much sits permanently at ~$55. Standard sale price is between $45-50 which happens every 1-2 months.
In fact looking at the graph on 3xCamels it looks like we're due for a 'sale' on it soon so you goofed buying it now OP, shoulda held out a week or two or bought a cheapy.
Dunno why your comment is negative, it's literally $55 at Peter's of Kensington and Minimax lol. OXO is a great brand, but this isn't a bargain. Also agree with the above posts, 2.25kg is not a lot.
That just means I've put a negative vote on the deal.
Ah, thank you for educating me - I never up/downvote deals so good to know!

Why not give it a go? You have to get your thrills where you can these days.
If you bake frequently I suggest buying the 5kg scale instead, 2.25kg isn't much especially when you put a heavy pot on top.
I love OXO, but these are way too expensive.
2.25kg scale with a 0.1g resolution at almost $55 (half price they say) sounds a little much…
5-pound-capacity Food Scale measures in 1/8-ounce and 1-gram increments
Not even 0.1g, it's 1g.
Yes sorry, I meant to say it has a 1g resolution but I expect a 0.1g resolution on a 2.25kg max weight scale… I don't see this as a good deal…
Price is now $42.15 for anyone interested
