might as well get the 700 for a few dollars more in yesterdays deal

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/841550

    • Is the 700 much better than the QC45

      • +7

QC45 are still fantastic and they have a much smaller profile especially when they're folded up. Makes them much easier to travel with.

      • +2

While both headphones have a fantastic noise isolation performance thanks to Bose's ANC technology, the 700 are better built and have a better overall microphone performance.

also, and this is subjective, but i like the design of the 700

        FTR i have the qc45

        • +11

Bose 700 are also terrible at comfort. They clamp too hard and I sold off mine in month. Gave me terrible headaches

        • +5

700 are not an upgrade. terrible comfort and having to use the friggin app to change connection to another device. they got rid of the great quick connect toggle switch and made it worse.

      • +6

        Depends what's important to you.

QC45s are known for their comfort, especially compared with the 700s which some find uncomfortable.
700s have touch buttons, which personally I think will make them less durable compared with good old fashioned mechanical buttons. My QC35s are indestructible, it's incredible.
700s will have slightly better sound, slighly better noise cancellation, but tbh no huge difference.
Comfort is super important for me so I prefer these.

      • +4

        they're 655 better

    • I have both the qc45 and nc700. Much prefer the qc45. For anyone on the fence, this is an outstanding deal, get the qc45.

  • +1

I bought QC45 or SE from last deal, sound quality is not as food as XM5. The call quality, and the comfort is better than the Sony's XM3 4 or 5 (on my head)

So I sold XM5 just to keep Bose SE 😂

    • SONY had shallow earcups that pressed on and hurt my ears after 2 hours - Bose have deeply angled earcups so they don't press and are comfortable for a 15 hour flight I took recently.

      • No wonder my ears hurt after the 1.5hr mark wearing the xm4. Might need to sell the XM4 to get Bose. Thank you

Not even the cheapest Amazon have done them this month. Kinda lame if this is their clearance price.

    • Cheapest this month was a few days ago but only on the White. Basically the price in the OP with an additional 10% off checkbox coupon.

      • +1

That's what I was referring to, yeah. And tbh, of the two, I'd want white to stand out from all my other headphones. (Kinda wish they'd kept the silver option of the QC35s though. Still toying with trying to get a used pair of those instead of spending so much on a QC45.)

        • +3

Heh. FWIW I'm literally using my ancient QC35s at the airport now. They were originally black, but have been used so much parts of it are starting to go silver…. I loaned them to the wife unit and when I eventually got them back the case was missing in action. Sigh. Had thought about seeing if I could get them replaced with a new set (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/789228) and it might come with a new case but - other than having to replace the foam pads a year or so ago as they had started to crumble - frankly the things still work really well! Been using them for a few hours now, and still at 80%. I think the QC35s went through a bad patch due to a faulty firmware update, but mine must have skipped that luckily. Nearly 8 years old (made 22/8/16 according to the app) and firmware is the latest (for it) V3.0.3 :-)

  • Happen to also stumbled upon these being sold in eBay for a very cheap price but probably comes with all sorts of other risks as well buying them so caveat emptor.

Look at the negative reviews: all talking about counter fit QC45s specifically.

      • -1

'counter fit' - so they fit them for you at the counter ? nice.

  • +1

Still rocking the QC45I might be time to upgrade…. Only complaints about mine is the micro usb short battery life and max 2 connected devices (always having to connect when I’m on that 3rd one)

  • I like this, very comfortable, sound isn't the best but that's pretty subjective. If you don't need the hard case just wait for another SE sale? Bought it from last ozb deal ($249) and used the hard case from my QC35 gen 1 hard case for it.

For reference I have the XM5, XM3, Bose QC35 gen 1, Bose QC45 (SE), Had the Momentum 4's for a week but returned them.

  • amazing headphones, just a bit quiet not sure why

    • +3

      Is there comfort atleast?

      • +4

I think cause they only go up to 45.

      • there is in fact comfort yes

  • How does this model compare with QuietComfort 45? https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0BDT54SGD

    • +1

Exact same but SE only has a softcase while other has a hardcase

      • +1

SE was $238 on Amazon a few days back. It was a better deal then.

  • Hope this gets more upvotes, I saw it slightly cheaper in an expired deal with a lot more votes, bought it here. I hope people don't know something I don't…

  • Do these block out wind noise very well?

    • +1

nah but I just turn my head at an angle to the wind to reduce any wind noise to not a problem.

  • I've been looking to buy a set of headphones for a while now, but have no idea what to get (haven't had time to do proper research). What would you guys recommend between $100-$200 as a starter set of headphones, or should I be looking at something like this at a minimum?

Also, been looking to buy a microphone too, but no idea where to start. Is Dynamic or Condenser the way to go with microphones? Can anyone recommend something in the $100-$200 range?

    • these are good because they can actually protect your hearing by cancelling/reducing background noise so you can enjoy listening to your chosen source at much lower volumes

I tried Apple AirPod Pros and found crossing a noisy street that to hear my podcast over the traffic noise I'd have to turn the volume up so loud it would deafinitely damage my hearing if I did that over time.

so I recommend these Bose for good quality sound, maybe second best quality noise canceling (some say SONY but uncomfortable), and best comfort for long wearing.

      • That sounds good. Yeah, I've heard Sony is a good brand. Is Sony considered the best for noise cancelling? What part/s make the Sony's uncomfortable?

Also, do you guys have any recommendations for microphones (if you have one yourself)? Should I be looking at condenser or dynamic ones? What are most people using these days?

    • You want headphones that are best only for listening? Or you want headphones that are more versatile (but will sound worse)? ie. Greater focus on features, comfort rather than pure sound quality?

      • I guess listening to music and also to use along with a microphone to talk to friends via discord.

As for features and comfort, can you elaborate a bit on the features thing? What will the features be that makes them sound worse? For comfort, I wouldn't like that top bar or whatever you call (I just did a google search and seems it's called headband?) leaning/pressing on my head as I started shaving my head not too long ago, so there is no hair there to soften how it feels.

    • Yeah I’m in the same bucket, wondering about the other good options at the $250-300 mark such as B&O, Audiotechnika, etc: any thoughts from the enthusiasts with these?

  • Haven’t purschased from Amazon before but if I ordered this, would I get a tax invoice emailed straight away that I could possibly claim on TRS Friday on my way out of the country? I will be returning for another trip back to aus in a couple months that I could collect them.

    • +1

You need $300 minimum order for TRS.

      • Oh bugger, should have purchased the 700’s!

        • I would have suggested adding accessories from the Bose store, but- they don't have any accessories! Not even spare ear pads!

        • The black 700s are back in stock fyi
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/841550

        • Or you can buy 2. Claim for 1 then return 1.

        • You can stack invoice worth 21 dollar from amazon to make it 300+

      • Not only is there a minimum purchase limit, but you must also declare them when coming back to Australia. See more here: https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/touris…

        • Thanks, I am living in NZ. Just visiting again shortly was all.

  • really tempting. The only headphones i have is the Airpod Pro Gen 1 which has weak NC now. Should i place the order or should i save my hard-earned money

  • Had QC35, upgraded to Bose QC Ultra one month ago, didn't like the comfortableness as I wear it for hours every day, and the new Immerse mode feels like just a gimmick to me.

Sold the Ultra and bought a QC45 last week. Closest feeling to the good old QC35 that I loved. Save a few hundred too.

Lesson learnt, extra $$$ doesn't mean it is the best for you.

  • I got JB-Hifi to price match

    • JB Hi-Fi only have the SE version which doesn’t include the hard shell case. Well on their website anyway

  • Does anyone know whether NC can be turned off? IIRC, there were models after QC35ii, where you could only change the level of NC (Quiet/Aware), but not completely turn it off.

    • +1

QC 45 operates in either quiet or aware only.

I upgraded to QC45 from my trusty QC25s, so the inability to turn off NC annoyed me when I first bought them. The battery lasts long enough so I’m now fine with it.

      • +1

Thanks mate. Seems like I am still hesitant and will have to see my QC35 to its death first.

      • There is a new firmware that has a wind block mode. And you can choose your level of NC.

Added the ability to create custom modes for different levels of noise cancellation that you can access from your headphones. Access Modes via the Bose Music app to create your own.

  • -6

I rather buy 1MORE Omthing AirFree Buds Noise Cancelling Wireless Earphones… convenient and not worry about the leather

  • How would this compare to similarly priced Sennheiser accentum wireless?

  • Looks like the NC 700 is also on sale, this seems to rate a bit better than the QC45. Thinking of buying it at $309.

    • was posted before this one & has been in and out of stock recently
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/841550

      • Thanks, yeah I was thinking of buying this morning after sitting on it, and now it's OOS. Have been erring because these are 4 years old now and I'm not across what newer models are available or what the competition is like at that price.

  • Recived mine a few days ago. Spent the last few days with them walking around doing nirmal human things.

Started to notice a crackle when synced to 2 bluetooth devices, disconnect from one and it seemed ok. Turns out to be a known problem….

Then noticed when i was putting the dishes away, spesifically the cutlery, started with a few and got the crackle tried it with just 1 fork nothing… 2 forks and there it was…. tried it on all kinds of anc settings, joys of the bose are that you cant turn it off…..

Turns out a known thing that is accepted by bose….

    Bose crackle and distort article

Still on the fence about returning them :(
