Hi!
I have been putting off putting up outdoor wireless security, but a neighbors camera picked up their place getting scoped…. so now I have to.
I live in a townhouse so I don't want to do permanent installs hence the wireless aspect. So far I have researched the Reolink Argus Eco Ultra or the Eufy 3c. These are the major ones that I am aware of in Australia but if you have recommendations, I am more than happy to hear them!
What is important:
- Home assistant integration (RTSP does the job)
- Decent battery life
- Person detection (not just motion)
- Local Storage
Nicety:
- Facial Recognition (I know eufy has bionic mind to do this). I would like notifications for unknown or specific people (dad, friends, etc).
As indicated, I use home assistant. So I am capable of setting up a frigate machine in future for a facial recognition server, but I wouldn't mind having it out of the box. I also don't have an NVR setup atm so local storage is preferable.
On these points, I know eufy has the base station NVR and the bionic mind and looks like it ticks most boxes. I have heard though that its quality is pretty minimal? I haven't heard the reolink quality.
