Switching Our Electricity Account to My Wife to Get Another Deal?

Hi all,

It's time for me to cycle to a new gas / electricity deal. Currently with AGL (cheapest in my post code), and it looks like they have a $200 sign up credit.

I was just wondering whether it's common practice to 'move out', then have my wife 'move in' and get a new customer deal all over again?

Do they charge you disconnection and connection fees on top?

  • they have a $200 sign up credit.

Why don't you just get a new wife every 12 months and get the bonus every year???

That going to be bit costly for OP; all the dinner dates, engagement/wedding rings, wedings, lawer fees for divorce. etc.

Yes, but you'll get the $200 sign up credit….

    • Why don't you just get a new wife every 12 months and get the bonus every year???

Why do that when he can get a new girl friend every month (and $200 sign-up credit every month)?

  • So no serious thoughts on this?

    • You mean is it still a common practice to change account holder name and claim sign up bonus? How many times have you tried?

  • You seem happy with their prices, so just try it. Stack with $30 Shopback. Nothing to lose, everything to gain, except if you "move out" and your wife "moves in" with another bloke.

  • does your wife have the same surname as you? check the terms and conditions if its excluded. Try using her maiden name.
Also look at other companies offer and see if they can match it. Compare rates as supply charges too.
Look at onebigswitch they have deals all the time

  • I called AGL on Friday and asked to review my current plan and wondering if I can be eligible for that $200 sign up credits you are offering to new customers.
Advisor responded saying I see you are on our best plan and I can apply the $200 credit to your account.

No need to switch out and back again.
    Give it a go OP.
    I am based in Brissy.
