    Your hard drives are overpriced.

    2TB is $139 and 3TB is $205.

You have a cheaper 3TB after the $25 discount, but its just not worth your "bargain"

    • +3

If you can find a populated NAS cheaper after shipping I will agree, but I will be surprised if you can.

      • why cant one buy the hard drives separately and populate the nas. even ds1812 is available online for 989. I've seen wd red 3tb go for 195 as well. so no bargain.

        • +1

          OK:

          $989 with free shipping?
          $195 with free shipping?

Because otherwise if you buy separately you are paying to ship two separate boxes which will definitely be more expensive than this deal.

Why go a NAS, when you can buy a N40 MicroServer plus 4 x WD 3TB Reds for $821 all up delivered to eastern states or $807 delivered Perth, AND actually get the extra functionality and flexibility to customise what you want the box to do?

        • +5

Why even do that when you can build your own RAID server out of off the shelf parts for even less.

But why even do that when you can fly to china and have your own circuit board and components fabricated for half the price.

But why even do that when you can go find a small island with some natural resources and found your own republic, slowly building your population and infrastructure over hundreds of years eventually culminating in universities capable of the fundamental research to develop microchips and integrated circuits and a private sector capable of bringing those technologies to market.

          and so on.

You can almost always roll your own solution, but there are usually trade offs such as easy of use and the time to research the solution. If someone wants a turn key solution with all of the most common features available with minimal hassle right out of the box then a NAS is most likely a superior choice.

        • cant argue with that!

Agree. I am looking for NAS atm and found centrecom has the cheaper price by $1 for the 2 tb drive

After shipping on the NAS and the drives?

      • +3

        Sorry didnt realise free shipping

      • Hi do you have ds112 in stock? I am thinking whether to get ds112 or ds213. It is for home use only. What is your recommendation?

        • Sorry missed this comment. We can get the ds112. But honestly I wouldn't really recommend it. But it depends on what you are looking for, if redundancy doesn't matter to you then it will be fine, but it kind of defeats the purpose I think.

When was it $1999.00 (ds1812+)…2001? Everywhere else is $988.00 all the time. Closest I can find to $1999 is these guys http://www.nexus.com.au/synology-network-attach-storage/8-ba… but its full of 2TB drives.

    • Fixed thanks, that was from a populated price which I deleted for the promo.

      • No Problem, I do totally agree that you couldn't do better than your price - Shipped, Pickup would come close. But otherwise its a pretty reasonable deal.

  • Where is 213+???
    There are only 4 bays

    • Sorry missed them somehow. Fixed.

  • Never had a NAS before. Can this be remotely turned off?

      • I have syno and yes u can. The article is talking about automation shutdown after running some script.
You can always log on n turn it off. Not sure about turn on remotely

        • +1

There are some apps which can be set which will shutdown and start up at specific times.

      • You certainly can; I have the ds413. Simply login to the Diskstation Manager and select Shutdown.

Add price(s) to title (even the lowest would suffice).
