Mobile Phone Recommendation < $900

Hello everybody,
Big fan, long time lurker, first time poster seeking advice from the good people of OzBargain.

I'm looking to replace my broken S8 within the next week as we're heading overseas. I've been looking out for S23 deals but Samsung EDU ones were too complicated to ask a friend to do on their account.

My priorities are:
1. Good camera for taking pictures of people
2. Decent battery life that can get away with once a day charging ideally (not a big gamer, just like to look browse things while out and about)
3. Longevity in the sense that software updates won't cease in the next 2-3 years.

Samsung A55 seems like a decent deal on the EDU store for $559.20. Open to other phone suggestions or if you know of a current S23 deal that brings it down to less than $900.

    S23, price beat Centrecom or Costco at Officeworks to make it ~$902. Satisfies all requirements.

    Google Pixel 8 when on sale. Girlfriend has been using for a while. Takes amazing photos. Tends to over-sharpen some portrait shots. No complaints from her so far. She uses it all day, as she runs her entire life through her phone.

      I'd personally be more than fine with one but OP probably won't given Xiaomi's relative lack of software support after 2 years and a decent but not great camera, 2 priorities of OP's.

    Thanks all, was going back and forth between Pixel 8 and S23. Due to the familiarity with Samsung and a few comments made against Pixel 8 in previous posts, I ended up getting S23. Price beat Costco at Officeworks which brings it to $902 as above - not the best deal but it will do.
