Appreciate Laptop Suggestions for Adobe Creative Cloud - Budget $2000

Hey community.

I've got very limited knowledge of laptops and would love some input on recommended laptops around the $2,000 mark.
It's for personal use which could turn into work as I would be using it primarily for Adobe Cloud (photoshop, illustrator and lightroom).

I understand general specs but in reality, I'm not sure how to look for value.
Reading over similar posts in this forum, it sounds like there are laptop brands/models that are expensive for what they are whilst others are great value for money so there's confusion on what to look for.

Ideally, I'd like a laptop that runs i7, has at least 16gb ram and 1tb space.
Bonuses would be if it is oled, long battery life and is lightweight.

I'm not sure if such a laptop exists at my budget so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all in advance for your time.

    Mac?

    • I'd prefer to avoid it if I can.
I don't have any devices in the Apple ecosystem.

A reason not to reject Mac OS straight up is that it adds a skill set to your resume. Imagine job hunting where creative industry employers only have Macs, or the creative role gets a Mac while everyone else gets Windows. Pretty much everyone does Windows in their school years, but being proficient at both Windows and Mac OS is valued in many sectors. And do some research on Apple Silicon battery life.

        • Yes that's true.
I work in IT by trade so am proficient in both.

I guess my reservation is around the upgradeability with windows laptops.
Also the price of Macs are usually higher than windows so I assume a budget of $2k won't provide the specs I'm looking for.

@Tandy001: Macs being more expensive than Windows is an outdated notion. Using Lightroom in Creative Cloud a $2K Mac notebook will easily outperform a Windows equivalent. Downvoters: please link a report where Windows is rated as better for photography.

            • @sumyungguy: yes the apple laptops are at a higher price point but compared to similarly priced windows machines, apple silicon performance/battery life is unbeatable

            • @sumyungguy: Plus Macs have insane resale value. People are still selling the base M1 for over $1,000.

@Tandy001: Even the M1 8GB could do some light After Effects. For 2k you should be able to get something that'll be perfectly fine for Ps and Ai. I bet you could get a used MacBook with M chip and 16GB/1TB for 2k. Even M1 would be fine, compare the geek bench of the M1 to whatever you're using right now, it's a very powerful system.

  • Have a look at this - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/834737

You can reconfigure and add to 32GB ram and 1TB storage for total price of $1,629.00

    • Thank you, I'll look into this and compare.
