590

Long time lurker first time poster. Let me know if there's anything I missed.

Have been hunting on a deal similar to what had been advertised last month. Stock seems to be back but going fast, I just ordered mine to be delivered next week.

Good Guys is also doing a Price Beat Guarantee to get this for $1695 + Delivery if you're able to find stock in your area.

  • I currently have a Sony X90J 65". It's a great TV, but my only gripe is that it is reflective as hell. Even when the room is dark, it picks up anything that has the slightest amount of light on it. It's also a bit smaller than I would like. Does anyone know if this might be a viable option to replace what I have? In an ideal world I'd love a big LG OLED but the price point is pretty up there.

    • +4

mm ive had mine for a week+ now, if you jack this up to its brightest settings, reflections are non-existent where there is colour. But the dimming is so effective and the blacks are pretty black so they still show reflections. You need a matte screen of sorts to truly avoid any reflection.

  • +4

I hope it will go below $1,600 again

    • 75"…most likely.

TCL starting to clear C845-> https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=*c845+tcl&…

Prices likely to fall further for all sizes.

      With ebay-voucher & further TCL price-drop, the 65" MAY hit $1.2K with FREE-delivery: based on 2023 C835 clearance. Note how many ebay 'watchers' & if you go TOO-low, there'll be none-left 🤔

    Cant order in Victoria!

thank you for saving me some time

OOS in WA now (while I was making my order grr)

    • That's unfortunate, I just purchased in WA about 30 mins ago! I contacted Live Chat as I wanted to be certain they had stock and I would have it delivered and they got my details and sent me a link to payment.

I also made an order through TGG but they had such limited stock that I wasn't certain on waiting for them to respond and miss out on this, so I'll be refunding that order tomorrow morning.

      • Ha, maybe you nabbed the one I was ordering, I was on live chat while they were entering in the price for $1695 then he said the last one had gone

        • It was survival of the fittest when I got it last month. Not surprise is the same now!

          • @RaihaX: yay, got the 845 from Good Guys on price match! looks like they didnt care AO didnt have any left in WA or maybe they cant tell?
And very easy to cancel my order with AO

            • @Snupple: Great to hear, enjoy!

            • @Snupple: Thank you very much, sir!!! Finally I got this one in Perth, assuming they won't cancel the order.

  • Looking forward to my $1407 on Monday.

    • Did you get an order confirmation?
I never got a cancellation email, nor have I been refunded the money. Is that the same case for you?

      • -1

I had to follow them up, but all booked for Monday.

300 less than this deal so I'll enjoy that downvote ha.

        • I’ll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. Hopefully it’s all good to go for delivery on Monday. Only received an order invoice, no emails or calls it was cancelled so weird.

          • +1

@chocoman123: I was the same as you, apart from order invoice received no further emails however I called them up today and they confirmed delivery still on for Monday.

  • I have the 55" version of this and can vouch that it's awesome TV for the price.

    • +1

Same here. Pretty faultless. Even Google TV runs smoother than on my CwGTV. One thing is HDR and DV content is way too dark even on full brightness. Not sure if my colour settings are off but its super noticeable compared to non HDR content.

      • +2

You're joking surely, what DV source? I've had the 75c845 for a week and Dolby Vision is like looking at the sun, it's ridiculously bright. Fallout specifically on Prime, have you tried that? The menus when it's in that mode are blinding. I use at night I've got the standard picture mode on movie with brightness at zero and I'm happy with that, Fallout looks amazing but when DV kicks in I was both blown away and searching for a brightness setting to crank it down, limited settings in the the three DV modes need to get used to it. Too dark though can't be talking about the same TV surely

        • I can confirm this to be true. It's always too bright for me in DV mode. I watch shows at 50% brightness with DV, and 75% in SD/normal mode.

  • +1

this can't last very long - i know for a fact they are clearing stock to make way for the C855…

    • +1

The 855 will likely be double price when new though compared to this clearance price.

I'm glad I waited and got the 845 on black friday. Otherwise I might have got the 855 and waited longer until this black friday coming.

The 855 had stated 3500 nits brightness (845-2000nits) and more than double the dimming zones, over 2000.

      • C855 def a nice tv, but I'm keen to see real world side-by-side with C845 to see how big the difference is despite the numbers. There gets to a point at general viewing your eyes will see maybe 10-20% diff despite the specs being 150-200% diff. Like OLED TVs are 4x the TCL mini-LED QLEDs, but in my eyes, the difference is not 400%, esp when the TCL renders blacks so well - not as perfect as OLED, but pretty close.

        • Oh in regards to the dimming zones?

Meh, very very few scenes have I ever noticed them appear visibly, and then for a split second.

The Dolby vision screen demos don't show them that I can tell.

The brightness is what is more important, imo.

This tv is brighter than the g3; though I've in movie move, or it's colour corrected it's marginally better, though still is noticeably. The minimum brightness is pretty impressive too, no OLED though.

So yeah, not massive differences, but they will be noticeable. I'm not going to upgrade for many years; 4k @144hz with great colour range, brightness, contrast I can't complain.

    • I've recently bought an 85c845, it has 3 or 4 stuck pixels on all HDMI sources.
Does anybody think if I wait awhile before putting in a warranty claim it may be replaced with an 855? If it does actually get replaced, that is.

$1091 delivered for the 55"…. tempting!

  • +1

Pity not available in Vic. Unfortunately I was one of the victims of the Bing Lee rug pull at $1,400 2 weeks ago.

  • Nice bought one as missed last month. Thanks!

  • Sub $1000 next year

    • UN-likely for 75" C845…others will pay HIGHER than that.

  • Don't forget extra $30 back for $300 spend if you have it on your CBA Yello.

  • I've got the 50" in the bedroom, great TV

  • I just picked up the Hisense 75” U7KAU for $1595 delivered from GoodGuys. Highly recommend as an alternative.

  • Would Appliances Online price match to TGG $1695 deal?

  • Mine will be arrived tomorrow saying that they will help with removal of the old tv but not setting the new one lol

  • +2

I walked in to Good Guys last night and they did one for $1650 for me. Not sure if I just got lucky, I mentioned the pricing for easter was pretty sharp and asked if they could get close and that's what they came back with.

    • True, Got to try local stores first. I got mine from my local JB, 85C845 store display model + delivery + wall mount/installation = $2,200. Except smudges from store labels which need some extra cleaning, generally good condition. No burn-in and no visible aging on brightness levels given there should already be a few thousand hours on demo mode. Compared to a new one would cost ~$3k with counting delivery and installation.

Not bad as I was hesitate between 85C845 and 75X925 (8K, 2021 model, $2,600 in a damaged box).

  • It turns out C845 got two models (at least in EU) - one with older chip (MT5889, xxC845) and one newer chip (with Pentonic 700, xxC845X2). I assume all AU models are using old chip, at least mine is. The older chip with Kodi doesn't do 8K decoding properly, and 120fps video decoding is iffy, too. Mainstream online platform contents worked fine, though.

    • No. Mine is a pentonic 700. Most people who bought the tv around Easter report they also got the same.

      • That's great! Did your TV says it's C845X2 on the sticker?

        • nope - people identify it using the TV firmware.

In Settings/System/About, scroll down to Product Information. If it reads V8-T613T03-#######.######, where # = any letter or numeral, you have the older MediaTek MT9615. If it’s V8-T653T01 etc. it’s the new Pentonic. And the next part that starts LF1V### is the firmware version. Latest is V098.

If you got a notification to update your TV to v098 in the last week or so, it's the new pentonic 700.

          • @plentifoo: So telling from the model number is a EU thing then. Mine is T615. I know it's old one since I checked with AIDA64 already.

What I really want is AVS3 decoding as I've got some 8K SNG feed to play with. Pentonic 700 rumors to support it.

            • @xmagic: yes sticker on the tv or box makes no mentions of X2.

just get a separate device if you want more codecs. ATV or Nvidia Shield Pro. I was planning to get the latter even with a Pentonic 700, but so far it's been handling content i normally view just fine

              • @plentifoo: Yup, C845's Google TV experience isn't the best to begin with. Noticable lagging from time to time.
I on the other hand is expecting a S928x box instead - got to try out AVS3 native decoding. Just that no mainstream product is using this chip yet.

                • @xmagic: That's very niche. Most people just stream 2160p content at best and are happy with it, myself included.

I guess a 'smooth' google TV experience is subjective from person to person. The pentonic 700 has handled all my fairly basic TV apps faultlessly. I use stremio, not kodi, and I've had no noticeable lag. Aside from codec support, I'm sure the pentonic is also a faster chip, so mightve fixed any lag issues from the previous version.

                  • @plentifoo: True, very niche stuff indeed. Lagging is really on UI navigation, nothing to do with actual video playback.

Fortunately I know I'm getting an older SoC to begin with (reasonable discount on display model) so no regret.

  • I am looking for an outdoor patio TV on the relative cheap, without having done any research would this by my best bet since its brightness is so good?

    • +1

I'm got the same 75" wall mounted in my alfresco area, works awesome and gets super bright for outdoors. I highly recommend!

  • My local TGG can do the C845 75” (not display model) with gold care, delivery and take away old tv and packaging for $2000. Good deal or meh?

    • Not good. Recent deals show prices can hover around $1500, and will probably come down more when the C855 comes out though probably a few months away still. So $400-$500 for delivery and removal is probably 100% more than actual cost of those 2 services. Not sure how much gold care is or if you need it? Up to you

  • +1

Got my order from TGG yesterday. Very impressed with the TV, well worth it.

Just a question for any C845 owners, I hear some say the Google TV doesn't do as well as having a 4K Chromecast plugged in to stream from there, is this the case?

I personally haven't noticed any issues from using the inbuilt Chromecast with the TV and it's already a huge upgrade in terms of PQ and motion compared to my old TV, but I haven't compared it with plugging in my Chromecast yet.

  • So JB and Appliances Online are now taking pre-orders for the TCL C855. Pretty pricey obviously. Look forward to discounts later this year
