[PC, Steam] Slay The Spire A$8.98 @ Humble Bundle

910

As part of the announcement of Slay the Spire getting a sequel, the original game is on sale at a new record low discount price at 75% off on both Steam and Humble Store (and likely many other storefronts), however Humble Store (A$8.98) has it cheaper than Steam (A$9.24). If you have a Humble Choice subscription, you can get it even lower (e.g. for a 1 month subscriber, I'm seeing 78% off at A$8.08). If you prefer a DRM-free copy, then GoG.com has it on sale for 66% off at A$12.19.

Comparison chart:

Storefront Discount Price (base discount) Notes
Steam 75% A$36.99 A$9.24 Redeems automatically in Steam account
Humble Store 75% A$35.95 A$8.98 Steam key provided, can get it even cheaper if a Humble Choice subscriber
GoG 66% A$35.95 A$12.19 DRM-free

It is crazy that this game is still almost $40 after being out for so long. And still $10 on sale?

And you know what, this game is worth every god damn penny.

    • 2 just got revealed! So excited

    • +2

Check out Factorio. That game has been out for years, and has only gone up in price, and has never had a sale.

Still worth the price, and the DLC sounds like it's going to be worth buying twice.

      • +3

Please don't check out Factorio for your own sanity.

(Or try the generous demo to see if its your thing)

        Worth every cent.

        The factory must grow…

  • +7

I have over 1000 hours in this game. It is worth it at full price

    • +6

      over 2,200 here lol

    • 463 hours here. The only game I've ever 100% accomplishments on.

    • Over 1000 as well, finished ascension 20 with ironclad

    • 500 on steam and untold hours jamming this on mobile waiting for PT or otherwise idling for me. I think thiyis the only complete game I have on steam and it was purely coincidental. Might be the ultimate filler game.

    • prolly 500+

      worth every penny

bought this twice on PC (one as a gift for brother), and on android too. to support the dev, mainly.

      such a good game!!!!!!!

    • I'm scared to check at this point

    • 1.8k hours and all achievements checking in! Thankfully we have Balatro to tie us over until 2025.

  • I just picked this up on Steam earlier. Was going to buy it on mobile but I just tested out playing it on the Steam Link app in a rather boring meeting so 2 for 1!

  • +2

I just couldn't make it work. The game was always won before I could build any kind of fancy deck. The time investment up front reading online is just not worth it to me.

And when you do win, you feel it's a waste of time. Unless eventually you can kill that thing. Trying to be spoiler free.

    • +1

I also couldn't get into it.

    • You can unlock the ability to kill the thing.

      • Nice. Curious. Probably going to have to YouTube it though as my Switch copy got stolen

    • +2

I've played heaps on Switch and really never wasted any of my time reading anything online. I'd rather try and fail and learn myself. So sick of all these "builds" for every single game that people online think is the only way to play/win. You're basically playing someone else's strategy and min/max. May as well just watch them play on YouTube.

      • +1

        "I've played heaps"

Sure, that's the alternative to reading. It's not an option for everyone

        • +1

Over a few years and in short bursts. Just as is intended with the Switch and games of this nature.

And "heaps" for me is sessions not hours. I prob haven't even hit 100 hours in the 3 years I've had it. Barely completed any Ascensions. Meh.

    • +1

Play on harder difficulties - the ascensions.

You don't need to 'invest' and read upfront, just play until you reach a good level of challenge. You are probably playing on too easy settings.

  • +1

Amazing game that's worth every cent. Can't wait for what the sequel brings

  • is it a good game, can i pause it and come back? also, is it a good roguelike?

    • +4

Yes, yes and yes. It is one of the best roguelikes and has inspired a new subgenre (roguelike deck builders).

      • cool, really like both those genres

    • +2

Yes and yes. Have over 500 hours. Good game to play when you have small children as you can pause at any time.

    • It's the best roguelike i've ever played next to risk of rain 2

  • +3

I remember having this show up as a recommended game time and time again before I took the initial plunge during a sale.

This is the best deckbuilder game I have ever played. I've had it for years and still find myself going back to it over and over.

I've tried other ones like Roguebook and Monster Train but they don't come close to StS in terms of replayability.

10/10 would recommend this to anyone who was interested.

    • Agree, Monster train is fun but too short compared to Sts

  • +1

Wasn't sure if a deckbuilder game was for me but everywhere I look at "best steam games" this is always on the list… so at this price it is worth a crack.

    • +1

Yep it's worth it. Im not interested in deck builders really but this one grabbed me. Has lots of personality alongside the gameplay depth. I did read a few guides on how to build because I always suck at spotting clever builds. But then get the hang of how to think and start slaying. Slaying the spire.

  • +1

Loved this game so much I spent $200 on the Kickstarter for the physical version. Easily worth it.

    • I love the game but didn't back the board game, cant see how it wouldn't just slow down the game and make it worse as you have to do all the upkeep/math/tokens and statuses etc. yourself. Taking way longer for a game genre that is supposed to be on the shorter side for multiple quick runs.

      • They greatly simplified the math. Most attacks only do 1 damage, and most enemies have <10 health. I actually think they made the game a lot better with the board game. The main benefit is the multiplayer; I've played a few runs with my daughter and it adds so much to the game.

        • +1

I'm very happy with the board game version. They changed it while retaining the essence of StS and made it a co-op experience. If you like the digital game and you like board games, I think you'll be happy with it.

  • It's also on Google play at a much lower regular price - I think $12.99. I picked it up a few weeks ago and immediately remembered why I got hooked the first time. Can't wait for StS2
