Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine Pro $708.29 ($691.62 eBay Plus) Delivered @ Sydneytec eBay

80
APR15APR17

This is not an all-time low but still a pretty decent price for the Dream Machine Pro. Sydneytec's eBay store has some good deals on Ubiquiti gear with the 17% eBay Plus (15% non-plus members) codes on offer.

I just purchased a couple of the UniFi U6+ APs for $166.40 each with the code. The UniFi U6-lite is a few dollars more @$170.12.

Interesting that these were frequently available on deals for <$500 2 years ago, and now rarely break $600 despite the hardware being the same and the SE being released.

Lol didn't see your message before I posted

Yeah it's unusual in tech for the same product to go up over time (Shortages aside). I regret not getting one of these at the $500 mark and would happily jump at that price now even though this is probably nearing the end of it's life. Not going to pay $700 for something that'll likely get replaced soon though.

Hard to pull the trigger when they were less than $500 a couple of years ago and probably due for an upgraded model to be released in a year or two. Still good price in recent context!

  • ye, pro for sub 700, decent for this.

  • then add a 3.5% cashback and giftcard then a good deal

Their prices have definitely been jacked up for the Ubiquiti products. Even with the 15 / 17 % discount there are other eBay stores that are cheaper. In some cases other stores like shopping express, Mwave etc are cheaper even with the eBay 15% off.

    • I searched on eBay and couldn't find cheaper. Can you point to a listing other than this one that is <$700 with or without the code?

      • +1

If you go to shopping express they have a promo currently some of the Ubiquiti devices with the code “Ubiquiti300’ and you can pick up the UDM pro for $671.40.

My comment was on rest of the Ubiquiti stuff where Sydney etc are more expensive than the other eBay shops. For example the express is $300+ with Sydney tech but $269 with the others. Same with lots of other stuff.

  • This may be slightly off topic, but isn't the U6+ better than the U6 Lite?

    • Performanse wise yes, the U6+ is better. AFAIK, the only pro to the lite is that it has Bluetooth to allow you to set it up with the mobile app instead of the Unifi platform, in the event you don't plan on using a unifi router of some form. Stuffed if I know why the lite is consistently more expensive.

In my case, I'm not planning to use the APs with any other Unifi gear. I have a PoE Edgeswitch to connect them and an OPNSense diy router I built using a cheap thin client.

  • If you are gettting their APs with UDM Pro, note that ports are NOT PoE - you will need to add a switch or poe injectors as well. Just FYI

    • …and because you also need a switch, just buy the smaller and cheaper UXG-Lite or UXG-Max instead. They're still capable of 1Gb routing, the only real reason to choose this UDM Pro is the hard drive bay if you're doing the video recording.

      • This is good info. So if I got USGMax and then run that to switch (then APs) and nvr I’d be all set?

Was thinking I need the UDMProSe and still get NVR and Switch

Is the USGmax cheaper because of the Hard drive bay not being there? To get me started I’d want 4 APs

        • If you need NVR then you do need the UDM-Pro in this deal.

          • @Nom: OK thanks for that. Planning out a new network and equipment starting from nothing

      • So I could plug my NBN FTTP directly into the UXG- Lite right?
Then hook up a POE switch to the free LAN port on the UXG for all my APs?

What about an NVR for Unifi Protect, do the cameras hook up directly to the NVR, or does everything just lead back to the switch?

        • So I could plug my NBN FTTP directly into the UXG- Lite right?
Then hook up a POE switch to the free LAN port on the UXG for all my APs?

          Correct 👍

What about an NVR for Unifi Protect

If you want NVR then you're back to the UDM-Pro in this deal ☹️

Also need a cloudkey to run this though? DM has this built in?

        • +1

No, you don't need a cloudkey for the controller application - it's just an application that runs in Windows, Linux, Docker etc. - just run it on a machine you already have.

    • True. Other thing you need to consider though is that the cheapest 8 port switch brings the price up around $200ish so then you're only looking at an extra $100ish to go the SE where you get the POE ports as well as the SSD drive included. That's where my head is at but if you don't plan on using protect (cameras) then the UCG-Ultra might be another option as it's not far away and has IDS/IDP and a tad cheaper ;)
Plus "resellers" only give 1 year warranty instead of the normal 2.

These deals are offensive. Everyone on EBay is selling a G5 for 239 (259 with 20 bucks off) if not doing this deal, but it is also 239 with this deal (288 with 15% off). Absolute rort to jack up prices like this and then offer the fake discount.
