Monitor/s for Work / Casual Gaming - Budget < $600

Hey all, looking for a monitor or monitors for my WFH set up / very casual gaming.

Can't decide whether to go with 1 screen (34" Wide screen, 1440p) or two screens (27", 4K)

eg Monitor 1:

eg Monitor 2:

Any other monitors or set up I should consider?

  • It all comes down to personal preferences and how you work. I have one screen (27 LG), and know how to tab. My teen has 2 screens - one horizontal, one vertical and is allergic to tabbing (Dell both 27s).

I changed monitors as I found the new one I purchased was refreshing at a frequency I didnt like especially on Word docs (Dell). But for gaming, it's fine. Dont ask the panel details, couldnt tell ya 🤷‍♀️

  • What's your budget?
How much space do you have?

    I would get a 48 inch LG C4 personally.

    • Looking to spend <$600

Have a table thats 1500mm x 750mm so enough space for 1 big monitor or two smaller monitors

    • 42 inch C3 works well for me

  • 1440p curved ultrawide. Though you can def go bigger than 34 inches, maybe not for $500 tho. You can get 2160p ultra wide too but that's probably too much money.

  • Have you considered one 32-inch 4K?

    • Havent considered this set up, ill look into it.

  • One tip, if you share your screen for work often, make sure it's setup your widescreen properly as two screens. Meetings with some people having widescreen displays and others on laptops are just painful.

That said, what you've suggested is ridiculously different to view and drive. Do you plan on gaming on one screen or two? Do the games you play support widescreen? Do you want the hugely different resolution with the 2x27" vs the lower res 34"?

    • How do you set up the ultrawide as 2 screens?

I have a 34 inch ultrawide and never considered that as an option - when I need to share screens I die a little for the benefit of others and just share my laptop screen.

    • Just playing games on one monitor, most games I play support wide screen. I think ill be leaning to the one screen set up.

  • Also in the same boat as OP (mainly used for WFH)! Suggestions for 34" ultra wide sub-$600 appreciated :)

Ended up going for the dell 34" Ultrawide.

  • I love my Xiaomi Curved Gaming Monitor tbh, works great for Excel and work related stuff the ultra wide is awesome for that. I don't do that much gaming these days and I'm sure there are much much better monitors if you're primarily gaming, but for the $350 I paid a few years ago this thing has been rock solid for mostly work/web browsing with the occasional gaming session

Personal Preference… I went with 2x 27s and happy with that setup

    • Agree there - made the mistake of 2x32" curved, they are just too big on a pc desk (Table is 1.2m deep….and they're still too big).

2x27 flat OR ultrawide 34 if you're into racing games and FPS (LG/Samsung makes some ~400-500 buckaroos)
