I need to get a smallish/short 4 door, used SUV to fit into a tight car spot. Because my driveway is so dipped, I needed something higher up so it does not scrape going in and out of the car park. Can anyone recommend anything reliable about the 10-15K price range? Was thinking about the Mitsubishi ASX, I heard it's strong and good fuel consumption but that's a bit more pricey since they only have new models. Thanks.

I have a few friends with Subaru Foresters who seem happy with them. They also fit into the tiny car port at my place.
Thanks! I will check out some car auctions. Also, any recommendations on the SUV models, please also include the year as they tend to vary in size.
I also think you should have a look at the Forester, it seems to fit your requirements. Year will mostly depend on budget and what is available (I don't know enough about the forester models).
+1 for the Forester, but they might be >15K
They are (externally) smaller that many other compact SUVs, i.e. the current RAV4. Small footprint, but you can fit a lot inside (we are 2A+3K)
For that price, Nissan XTrail!
Suburu Forester are an excellent car but you won't get a recent model in that price range.
In terms of getting bang for buck, have a look at the ex govt used car auctions. They usually have cars that are 3 or 4 years old, including SUVs, but they do go for a bit more than $15k - I'd say around $18k would be average for the SUVs. The one I used was Manheim auctions near Liverpool in Sydney. You'd probably get a newer car that way. But for your main question about the sizes of the SUVs, sorry I can't help much, since I was focussing entirely on the compact estate wagons :-)
