Hi, this is the 14 inch OLED that was on sale for just $1950 less than a week ago.
I'm not sure about the pricing strategy of Lenovo, but this is bad for sales for the end of the fiscal year; maybe they will drop the price again by May? can anyone tell??

BTW, this is my first time ever posting here so take it easy on me if I made any mistake in the post.

      Can you explain more??

      • +3

Assuming Bubbleice was talking about drivers, Lenovo's driver support is as good as any OEMs (in other words, mediocre at best and your product will be lucky to receive driver updates 2 years after purchase). Otherwise, I'm not sure what other Lenovo "software" anyone would bother updating as anything else Lenovo include on a factory Windows image is bloatware/crapware/spyware.

There are plenty of other far more pressing reasons to avoid Lenovo products like the plague.

        • +10

I have a Lenovo laptop, and the only only Lenovo software it had was Lenovo vantage, which you can easily replace with a cut down open source version. There was less bloat in it than my previous Acer laptop.

Lenovo laptops are the best value machines, while still having solid thermal design. The rest is pretty nonsensical if you ask me

          • +1

@Pacify: I agree with you. One benefit of Lenovo Vantage is that it allows you to set a charging limit for the portable PC, which I think varies from ~65-80% depending on the model. This does extend the life of the battery if you leave it connected to a USB-C docking hub like I do.
Can you tell me if the open source versions have that functionality, and whether they might work on other brands of PCs? I know there’s at least one for the MacBook Pro that can do that, and other PC brands can do that via a utility app or BIOS setting, which may not work on all models:

What possible software updates do you want?

      • Probably mcafee?

thats provided by Microsoft Nvidia and AMD/Intel

Good first post. Decent specs. The last year has been kinda dogshit for sales for tech products at least in my opinion.

    • Thanks, I'm really looking for a Lenovo Legion laptop but the prices are horrible 😢.
I hope that Lenovo will make "good" discounts with better prices by May or I would need to find another laptop.

    • JarrodTech posted a video basically saying buy 2023 models because the 2024 have basically nothing new and cost more.

      • The real problem is the prices here in Australia are way more higher than the US.
Last year you can get a Lenovo Legion Slim 7 with AMD 7840HS and Nvidia RTX 4060 + 16GB of Ram +1TB storage for about $1200 US dollars (about 1800 Aussie dollars), yet the cheapest Slim 7 with the same specs here in Australia was around 2700 Aussie dollars (during end of year sales only).

I previously sent an Email to Jarrods Tech asking for Aussie shops that sell for those good prices he present in his videos and website, but I got no answer.

        • The real problem is the prices here in Australia are way more higher than the US.

That's the case for everything and always has been. It's not really Lenovo's fault, it's due to a complex bunch of factors including economies of scale, GDP, exchange rates, geography, logistics, supply/demand, etc.

  • Good little laptop, with a strong build quality. It's much better than my previous Alienware laptop that used to overheat even during web browsing.

Managed to find a Slim 5 Gen 8 16"with a 4060 on the Lenovo Outlet for $1635. One only apparently. New, not reconditioned, so I grabbed it. Seemed a good price and I prefer the larger screen over the 14" option. Waiting for it to arrive.

    • Wait whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!!!
I would love to have that deal.
which website did you find it on?

    • @TheFunkySalsa Can you please share the order number with us so maybe I, or any one else be able to negotiate a new deal with Lenovo?
Also, did you get any cashback on your deal??

  • +5

Nice price for a solid laptop. With Lenovo you're always best to wait for a Sale + ~15% cashback combination for best value.

  • +1

    good post

  • +1

Waiting for the 16 inch oled

  • +1

Still can't see anything under $2k yet?

  • İf u buy Lenovo don't forget its warranty, at least for 20 years !!!! Or more 😏 Otherwise they don't help for anything! Money is everything for these company?!

    • good tip, last time I asked for the 20 year warranty they gave me a discount

      • Don't skip the chance…! 🥸😁

      • I only need 10 years. Any cut?

  • +1

Great laptop. Bought it to replace my G14 and have been using it for the past 6 months.

FYI: if you want the extended warranty it's probably better to purchase it with the laptop. I tried to add it afterwards via customer support and I couldn't get them to give me the same discount.

  • how many watts is the 4060? is it comparable to the desktop version or is it watered down?

    • +1

Check YouTube for comparison. 4060 laptop pretty much same performance as desktop

    • Nvidia lock all the laptop versions of 4050/4060/4070 at 100 watts max, this laptop is rated at 140 watts for the cpu+gpu.
The 4060 in all laptops is the same specs as the desktop version.

  • I know this is a deal but hear me out, why would you buy this, rather than spending some extra and ordering a Framework 16 which will last you 10 years plus, as every component is user replaceable.

    • How long will it take to be delivered?
Does it come with the same specs?

Also bare in mind that we are looking for a lower price point for Lenovo, and this is just a reminder of the current best price at the moment

You can go with 16 inch that has user changeable gpu as well

        • +1

          Just checked it…

$3108 for a bare bones laptop with:
          16'' 2560x1600 resolution and 165Hz refresh rate with 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 500 nit
          Ryzen 7 7840 HS
          AMD R7700S
          and the power adapter

NO RAM, NO STORAGE, NO OPERATING SYSTEM (BECAUSE IT'S CHEAPER TO BUY ALL THOSE FROM AMAZON AT THE CURRENT CRAZY HIGH PRICES)
(ALSO DIDN'T INCLUDE ANY PORTS, IF YOU WANT ANY IT WILL COST YOU +$15 PER EACH PORT)
AND ABOVE ALL OF THAT, I'LL BUILD IT MYSELF AND IT SHALL COME TO ME IN THE 2ND QUARTER OF 2024!!!

AT THIS POINT I WOULD SAY THANK YOU OUR LORD AND SAVIOR LENOVO 😔

For comparison, just look at this current offer from lenovo for an already built and ready to be shipped $2539 (2285 after just 10% cashback)

          Ryzen 7 8845HS Processor
          Operating System : Windows 11 Home 64
          NVIDIA RTX™ 4070 Laptop GPU 8GB GDDR6
          32 GB DDR5-5600MHz - (2 x 16 GB)
          1 TB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 TLC
          Display : 16" WQXGA (2560 x 1600), IPS, Anti-Glare, Non-Touch, 100%sRGB, 350 nits, 165Hz, Narrow Bezel, Low Blue Light (can be upgraded to 16" WQXGA (2560 x 1600), IPS, Anti-Glare, Non-Touch, HDR 400, 100%sRGB, 500 nits, 240Hz, Narrow Bezel, Low Blue Light for +$50 only)

I know about framework and I have always dreamed to build my own custom laptop, but at those prices for such components and unclear delivery date I can't accept it at all.

        • Framework is for the bold and those who have a lot of money

    • My answer is that I didn't know it had been released. But, I'd totally consider it next time I upgrade.

    • +1

Because its an extra 1k+ on top for the bare minimum spec matching Framework 16, with a worse GPU (RX7700S). Just the price difference alone is going to offset any money you can save by swapping the mobo down the line on your existing FW versus just buying a new machine. There's no guarantee they'll be around 10 years later either

      • True, that's my point too

    • There are some components which won't last 10 years. Framework might not even be around in 10 years 😅

  • According to Rep, promo ends 14th April.
    Also single SSD slot only.

  • I was going to pull the trigger, but "Ships FREE within 7-8 weeks*" make me jump.

    • Reading posts from former ozbargain deals, it looks like it's around 3 up to 5 depending on the configration you make and the amount of available stock at Lenovo in china.
However it's still a long period and not encouraging at all.

    • +1

Weird - I ordered towards the end of the 10% CB window from cash rewards and my eta is 6-9 days. I was also really close to pulling the trigger during the Easter sale and from memory it was also saying ships in several weeks a few days ago, so either they cleared their backlog a lot faster than planned or they're being cautious on their commitments.

      Edit - ordered 5th April 18:20

      • Tell us when it arrives

      • +1

Well that was fast, received DHL notification and delivery planned by 12th April

    • Yep, this is also why I haven't pull the trigger on this deal, don't really want to be seeing better deals while I'm still waiting for mine 6 weeks down the line.

  • Tax deductible?

  • +1

Cashrewards is now running a 13% cashback in case this works better for you.
    https://www.cashrewards.com.au/store/lenovo

    • Thanks for keeping us updated 😍

    • +1

      Thinkbooks & Thinkpads 13%
      Standard Rate 8%
So not same rate for everything just be aware

      • Hmmmmm….. that is very interresting.
Thanks for sharing that too so everyone should keep it in mind when making purchasing decisions.

        • would the 13% apply to legion?

          • @AussieMark: Yes, only 8% cashback apply on the legion now; keep an eye on the cashback offers to know when it go up or down so you can make your purchasing decision on the time with the highest amount of cashback.
At the top of this page, just under the photo of the laptop you can find the link to the deal as a button called Go to Deal, and just under it you can find the cashback offers; click on the cashback offers and you will find the details.

Hi all, first time posting on ozbargain………..I'm interested in getting the legion slim 5 (16inch) version (https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/configurator/cto/index.html?bun…) ——————— does anyone know whether the current cashback of 13.2% applies for this model? I'm a newbie at all this cashback stuff so need guidance here.

    Thanks

    • what do all the coments say? I would also like to hear what peoples thoughts are on this

    • Display

      16" WQXGA (2560 x 1600), IPS, Anti-Glare, Non-Touch, HDR 400, 100%sRGB, 500 nits, 240Hz, Narrow Bezel, Low Blue Light

looks like a better screen 240hz over the other 14 inch 120hz

would that make a big differnce?

      • Anyone have any feedback
