I bought this guitar during pando for $1000. Best travel guitar I've owned. Action and intonation are spot on. Easy to play and stays in tune. Leaving this in l a hot car is fine as the body is made from carbon fibre. Can't do that with my Martin.
Built in effects are a bonus. Would absolutely recommend at this price.
Can you plug it into the amp?
Yep, has 1/4" jack.
Just bear in mind that this is an old model. The latest model is Lava Me 4 which even has a screen on the side of the guitar.
Lava Me 4 is quite expensive. But they have Lava Me 3 for under $1K.
These were $299 during recent Amazon sale. Can't explain why Chamel's didn't record this; it's possible there was a different listing.
Don't say that! Now I can't say yes to this deal D:
My cousin and me bought this guitar during lockdowns for $600, the quality control is awful. Freeboost was not working properly on mine so had to send it to be repaired under warranty. On the second one it was working quite well, but around 14 months it too had issues and as it was out of warranty had to pay to get it repaired. Now both guitars are around 30months old now the guitar volume is very weak, the company advised it will cost $300 to get it fixed, so I am giving it a miss, once it dies on me, I will go in the bin. Also fret on mine is smooth whilst my cousin feel a bit rough. By saying that when it is working it has awesome output and feels great, you want to love it but it lets you down with teething issues.
I own couple acoustic guitar which I paid around $400 to $600 (Epiphone AJ and Fender Newporter) back in 2006, never ever once I had issued with them. I know I am not comparing oranges to oranges, but when you are paying $600 you expect it to be trouble free.Try replacing the battery in the Freeboost. It's just a 18650 battery.
Pull off the volume and effects knobs. Then find a way to loosen and remove the nuts on the potentiometer. Once removed, the box unit will come loose on the inside. Take note of how the cables are connected and dislodge the cables from the box. Open up the box and replace the battery. See if that works.
If the Freeboost unit has a problem, see if they can send you a replacement and you can replace it yourself.
@tatasauce: Thanks for advice. I will replace the 18650 Lithium battery in it to see if it makes any difference, if not as you suggested will contact the company and see if they can send me the Freeboost unit so I can replace it myself.
The novelty of this guitar is the carbon fibre for portability and durability, and the built-in effects coming out of the body.
The Lava Me 3 and 4 definitely have more usability than the Me 2 but costs much more. Let's face it, you will pick up the guitar more if it has the features that the 3 and 4 has. The novelty dies off quite quickly for the features of 2.
My use case is a durable guitar I can leave lying around the house, pick up and play for fun with effects. At this price point I am tempted to look at the Enya Nova Go Sonic, although it is an electric guitar rather than acoustic as I think I will pick it up more.
If anyone has tried both Lava and Enya, feel free to let me know your opinion.
Love the cheaper Nova Go SP (Acoustic). Tiny and comfortable.
The effects arent great so about 80% of the time I just play it as a straight acoustic, but to some extent they do compensate for the limited bass.
Thanks Op.
I just pulled the trigger on one of these.
Always have issues with my acoustics going out of tune because of the weather.
Won't travel with this but the tone and durability sold it for me.
Sure the version 3 and 4 are more advanced, but I don't think I'd use the extra features.
Three knobs keep it simple and less to break.
Did anyone get theirs yet?
I ordered last week and am still waiting. Not sure why the shipping of this was so slow
Check with Amazon support maybe. I bought mine last year. I think, it took over a week.
Thanks, arrived today.
Amazing guitar.Question:
I haven't bought a brand new guitar in ages so not sure if this is normal, but frets don't seem super smooth. A bit scratchy when bending. Is this normal?
I thought this was meant to come with polished frets?
Not sure if I should just keep playing till they wear in (they seem to get better with more playing) or remove the strings and polish?
Currently says $399 for me!
Wow they dropped the price! That's a steal at that price.
Pity Amazon don't have a price guarantee
That's for orange though.. and 2 left hmm
