  • Dare I say COTD or Grocery Run have similar 8 way products quite often for $19.99. Managed to get one when the free shipping hour was on the other day.

  • These are good value for money and well made, picked one up last time they went on sale. It is a shame that Dicksmith who is suppose to be an electronics expert does not realise that heavy-duty MOVs, varistor and gas discharge arrestors are the same thing. They make them sound ilke 3 separate devices PFFF

    • Dick Smith the guy has nothing to do with the store since the '80s.

    • a gas discharge arrestor is not a varistor. mov's will be used between the pins on the mains, the others on the phone + coax

I've been using one of these for nearly 5 years.
Found it in a dumpster behind a DSE.

Just casually strolling along then suddenly noticed something at the bottom of a skip bin? :)

something like. actually that DSE dumpster was a gold mine. so much stuff that was "broken" e.g. boombox with batteries in backwards, LCD monitors with broken on switches, cordless phones with flat batteries, stereos with blown fuses, car dvd systems with broken (and replaceable) cables, etc. really basic stuff to fix that for anyone with half a brain would state to the customer that it was beyond repair or cheaper to buy a new one.

found a box of 30 BNIB ipod cases. stuff like that. dumpster diving at its finest/ most lucrative.
