I am looking for some advise on what apps or games to install on our ipad for our 4.5 years old son which he can enjoy while learning, lets say, technology, maths or general knowledge or whatever thing other than browsing YouTube for senseless content.
Happy to pay if the app/game is not free.

If you put your kids to public school, reading eggs normally provided free
Eye Spy.
Teach Your Monster to Read is good especially if you supervise and assist with reading the whole sentences a bit

Also just ABC iview has some good educational content. Alphablocks and Numberblocks are good.
We also have Reading Eggs on a shared account (not at school yet). Admittedly I don’t use it enough as my 4.5yo loves playing with their Lego, train tracks, marble run etc in their free time, which I’m not going to interfere with. We mostly use the games and apps when travelling. Aside from the annoying voices Khan Academy Kids is my favourite for value (being free) and having a lot of content. I find I need to sit with my little one at first until they get their head around the games/app and then I can just leave them with it. I also make sure I’m not relying on the apps to learn stuff, we borrow age appropriate readers from the library, practice writing with a pencil, do basic maths and puzzles as well and to be honest these are enjoyed more (but obviously more time consuming as a parent).
I hear TikTok is educational like that, you only need to VPN into China :P
