Remember when ING banned OzBargain referrals because of how much we were all making? Good times.

How dare you get us customers that normally costs us hundreds in acquisition costs.

I wish I knew that, I want to make some money too. I never used referral system here on OZB.

  • Opened an account two days ago… might chase them up for this

  • Is the referral system better? Or you get both?

Until 31/3/2024, referrer and referee will each receive $75 for opening new Orange Everyday & Saving Maximiser Accounts.

Referrer: Do not participate in the referral system if you do not have a current $75 referral code.

Referee: To qualify, you are required to deposit a minimum $1,000 and make at least 5 (settled) card transactions within any calendar month.

    This is a Targeted offer.

No deal here. Referral gives $150 ($75 for each referer and referee). Not sure why you posted an inferior deal.

    • Isnt there much less hoops in here?

      • +2

Depends if you have $1k to lock for 60 days or just deposit 1k and buy 5 x $1 amazon gift cards or make 5 x $1 transactions when you go supermarket shopping

        • Assuming there are two people and neither have accounts - is this not a better deal as you net $100 as opposed to $75? Since only an existing customer would have a referral.

          • @theredrabitt: Assuming there are two people one person signs up via a referral and the other person waits until the first person get their referral because why are you in a hurry? that would be $225 vs 100$

          • +1

@theredrabitt: Even both people can use a random referral and it would still be more.
            $75 x 2 = $150

            • @wangasm: Thanks. I was thinking a random referral won't help - but yeah, still $75pp even if you don't use each others code 👍

        • buy 5 x $1 amazon gift cards or make 5 x $1 transactions when you go supermarket shopping

You are doing things the hard way. ;-)

          • @DoctorCalculon: Agree, too many hoops, I don't like having to make purchases or having to accept a physical card with online savers.

Seems like an ok deal - anyone know if it's one business day to transfer still, or osko (instant) now? Want the money harder to access if anything.

  • Does anybody know how I would find my ING referral code?

    • +1

They are only directly emailed to you. If you don't have an email then you weren't targeted (not everyone gets one)

    On another note.

The amount of points , credits and gifts cards I have received from the Citi prestige card from last May has been unbelievable.

My annual fee 750 is coming up end of May.
What are most people on here doing ?
My last lot of 20000 points will come in mid May.

Should I cancel it? Should I keep it ? Has anyone negotiated a lower annual fee ?

Also the Citro card offer last year was the easiest 200 dollars I ever made.

Thank you ozbargain and the OP’s who posted those Deals
I would have never known otherwise

  • A ?

  • Why would this be targeted? New customers wouldn't be in the system. Does it matter if you had an account years ago, seems like a new account would qualify?
I think you'd want the same interest rates as ubank to bother.

    • Important to note that there is no interest on the OE account. ING seems to be keen not to make this clear up front (or anywhere that I could see), which may be against FI regs or codes of practce. This deal equates to about $41 as a result - you're foregoing ~5.5% interest for 2 months.

Or, looking at it another way - $50 is a 30% annual interest rate if my calcs are correct.

      • I was interested in taking up this offer, but wanted to also open a Savings Maximiser savings account. From what you've suggested, there isn't a link between an OE Account and a Savings Maximiser. Any suggestions how to make this work to my advantage (chasing the high interest, but would love if could also get a bonus $50 for not much effort).
        TIA

        • I have both OE and SM accounts, as you can and many other Ozbargainers do. They are separate as far as usage and interest rates go but internal transfers between them are simple, instant, can be automated - as can any scheduled payments.

There are "major" hoops to earn the 5.5% (up to $100K) SM interest rate for the following month, although these are relaxed for the first month/2months.

This is a rough outline, but make sure you read the details on their website and/or contact ING if you have specific questions.
          Hoops:
          (1) deposit $1K /month from an external source (you can immediately withdraw it manually or via automated payments if necessary).
          (2) grow your SM account (by $0.01 if you wish) at the end of each month (the balance can jump around as much as you like during the month). NB: this means at the end of say April your SM account must have at least one cent more than it had at the end of March, AFTER ING has paid their interest on your balance. Simple enough to check your transaction history to see what your April target is.
          (3) make a minimum 5 finalised payments (ie don't leave it until the end of the month when payments may be pending) with your card (easy with the OE account "attached" but you will have to have money in the 0% OE for that purpose obviously).

If you don't meet the criteria, next month your interest rate will be the standard variable (0.55%)!!!! You'd then move your money eslewhere for most of that month.

      • Important to note that there is no interest on the OE account.

That's useless then. I don't need a new everyday account or access card. The online saver is of more interest (pardon the pun), no doubt it's a linked account.

I saw this promo advertised on Facebook so it would be odd if it is targeted

  • Ask a friend or Ozbargainer for a referral code for the $75 referrer and referee bonus.

  • When is $100 bonus?

  • Here's a different but similar "deal" which may or may not work: https://www.reddit.com/r/AussieFrugal/comments/1ba3kun/ing_w…

  • Anyone willing to share their referral code? How come it's not showing in the OzB referral code system.

  • It sounds like you just need to have $1000 sitting in the account on the 60th day. So the 1k doesn't need to actually be sitting in there for 60 days, if I'm reading correctly.

    • Doubt it.

Keep it open for at least 60 days with a minimum balance of $1000 seems clear enough.

      • +1

Yeah but when you click through to the link the fine print says:

ING will make a one-off payment of $50 to your new Orange Everyday account after 60 days of the Orange Everyday being opened, as long as it remains active and has a minimum balance of a $1000 at 60 days.

        • Right above that manglish, under Eligibility they specifically state:
-Retain the account for at least 60 days with a minimum balance of $1,000.

They also clearly tell you what's required above
          Special offer
          $50 cashback bonus
Here's what you need to do

1 Open an ING Orange Everyday account and enter the promo code SEMOEFTY.
2 Deposit $1000 into your new ING Orange Everyday account.
3 Keep it open for at least 60 days with a minimum balance of $1000.
