    Yep not really a bargain when you can buy models that take 2 x AAA for around A$16 on Aliexpress all the time. The money saved on batteries soon makes up for the price difference… US$7.49 + $1.99 del + GST (~A$16)

    Also some comments in old posts said it's junk anyway -

    My inkbird ended up in the bin, cheap manufacturing, flimsy, dry solder joints leading to very early failure, there is a reason this is cheap

    I’ve given up on inkbird, cheap chinese manufactured products with no quality associated with it.

    Agreed with above comments on cheap build quality. I had one for just over a year and it broke outside the warranty period. I'd only used it a handful of times as I don't BBQ that much. Support didn't give me much love aside from a 15% off coupon…which wasn't enough to convince me to purchase a product that in my mind should last a lot longer. Would stay clear of this brand.

    Had the same issue with inkbird Bluetooth kit that wouldn't connect to anything, all in the bin and moved on from your brand. Maybe I got really unlucky but 2 out of 2 duds was enough for me

    Rep has been trying to offload these for years on OzB.

        It doesn't make sense to make comparisons with different brands of products, shipped from different places.

        Thats the best part… it does… you literally buy these from Alibaba and have your stickers put on them. They are literally the same product. I bought a box of 10 of these for the guys in the workshop where I work and they are literally identical to the ones you are selling except for the stickers on them. They cost me about $5US each + a few bucks for shipping.

          @pegaxs: The rep's reply was nonsense but it's $14 for the sale price. Even if they come from the same factory it's not too far off from this price plus it'll get shipped quicker since it's in Australia. A A lot of those ones on Alibaba require you to buy at least 5 of them before they get cheaper. I only need 1.

          Plus the major stores in Australia (bunnings, bigw, etc.) are all doing the same thing and flogging them off for $40+ so I'd much rather get the same thing at this price

            @Inkbird: You don’t have your own R&D team for developing IR thermometers. What do they do, design the stickers? Give it a rest.

            What you have is a procurement team that sources products, in bulk, for the best price.

  Ive got other inkbird thermometers and always been happy with them so grabbed this a few months back, its been great.

  9v battery not ideal but personally fine with the trade off if the blalternative is wading through aliexpress for a rando.

  I use one of these for home brewing and it's great. 9V battery that it came with lasted 12 months. Just swap it out with your smoke alarm battery that you should change every year anyway.

    I just use stick on thermometers. No batteries needed & it's always displaying the temp + cheaper.

      Yeah but I'm talking about stovetop all grain brewing. They are excellent for checking mash temp etc.
