Porting Boost > Lebara > Boost Issues

Hi OzBargain brains trust,

As so many do, I have purchased two $300 Boost SIM kits and two Lebara $14.90 SIM kits for myself and my wife. Both currently Boost customers.

My wife ran out of data last night, so we initiated the port about 8PM last night. She got signal after about half an hour, and it appears to be active. However, as of today ~9:30AM she cannot receive calls or get data reception at the moment. When I call her it goes straight to generic message bank.

I then told her to initiate the port over from Boost, but she is getting a SOMETHING WENT WRONG message.

Where should I go from here? I'm guessing the port to Lebara isn't complete for some reason?

Normally I'd just be patient, but I have a very angry wife who wants answers…

Have you tried porting to a new wife?

She is my Lebara if you know what I mean

Check port hours. They close at 8pm. Probably bad idea to port then and maybe it's incomplete. Also they don't port on public holidays. try and fix today… Have fun!

      Check port hours.

Usually Friday nights, around 10pm. After dinner.

Change wife, then port to Boost…

  • Call Lebara seems a good start.

    Then call Boost.

  • So you want to port from Boost to Lebara, and then back to Boost?

    • Yeah, not sure why OP is wasting money on Lebara $14.90 sims…. Lots of $2 sims around…

I got this deal for $4

      • The $4 sims are common in coles and woolies.

Its pretty common for people to take a month of Lebara for $4 before churning back to boost. I have done this before and I'm in process of doing it for my mother.

    • Yes, to take advantage of a cheap $300 SIM. Currently appear to be stuck on Boost to Lebara portion.

Most reports I read on here the whole thing is done in half an hour. It's definitely been longer.

        Have you contacted them?

  • I had this issue on Tuesday, it's been a debacle but it was resolved today. Boost system couldn't acknowledge (or receipt) port requests however Lebara did receive & were queueing up. I had to use the live chat feature to activate however firstly they had to manually cancel all port requests which took 72 hours and I wasn't to resubmit until confirmation from Boost (it came via Telstra email) saying all requests are dead. once the email confirmation came that all previous port requests were denied, I had to live chat this morning and manually port in (and provide ID/text verification) and it immediately ported within 2 minutes.

to be clear — this is a Boost issue, not Lebara

    • Ah, that would explain everything, thank you!

To be clear - when you say:

I had to use the live chat feature to activate however firstly they had to manually cancel all port requests which took 72 hours

do you mean Lebara live chat?

      • on boost website
        1. live chat — type "report a fault" & "something else" — you'll go from "virtual assistant" to real person immediately
        2. request cancellation of all port requests relating to SIM card # (enter the 12/16 digit sim)
        3. await 48-72 hours for all port requests to die (boost via Telstra email will confirm)
        4. live chat again — type "manual port in" & "report a fault" — you'll be connected to a person immediately
        5. provide the SIM serial, the number you want to port, confirm prepaid/post-paid — provide your ID & port out SMS verification
        6. few minutes later Lebara will no longer work, you'll be Boost'ing away

to make it faster, if you already have a Boost account — log in first and then hit live chat to avoid the DOB/identity questions

          Absolute legend, thank you!

        • Coming back to this - when porting my own SIM over I had the exact same problem as you. Your instructions were invaluable - thanks again!

  • boost porting is a nightmare, i had the same headache five six years ago, can't believe their tech team just sit on the same issue for half a decade, useless
