  • For tasmanian residents only. Had a trip planned for Tasmania next month and guess can't get it free as I am a visitor.

Three lagers included in the tour helps justify the price a little, especially for children at $18.

Tasmanians get 6. One of each per head.

If it makes you feel any better I'm a Tasmanian and I paid for a family of us to do the tour before it became free the week after. Our tour guide requested that we all leave one star reviews for the brewery and a comment about the staff losing their jobs.

  • Might want to mention its only free for Tasmanians

Did the tour ~15 years ago and from what I remember it was quite fun, it was even better that surprisingly most of the people on the tour didn't drink beer. I took 6 or 7 seven free schooners off there hands and had a good afternoon.

Nothing beats the Monteith Brewery in Greymouth on the west coast of the South Island in NZ though! It was a while ago so not sure if this is still the case, but after the tour the guide leaves the group and gives everyone free rein of the bar to drink what your want!

      Inflation/shrinkflation happened in the meantime:

      An expert guide
      Monteith’s and beer history lesson
15 minutes behind the scenes tour
A 20–30-minute tasting and pouring lesson
Two beers poured from the Brewer’s Table
Takeaway mixed-six-pack filled with your own selection of our beers and ciders.
Time to explore backstage in our former brewhouse.

So you might be out of luck if you go now..

The Speights brewery tour I did in Dunedin NZ years back was the same, 30 mins of pouring your own beers after the tour, was good fun.

    • Nothing beats the Monteith Brewery in Greymouth on the west coast of the South Island

      Is it beer o'clock yet?

  • The Boag's tour is essentially the same as every industrial brewery tour, CUB in Melbourne, XXXX in QLD, Tiger in Singapore etc.

The Cascade tour (in Hobart) has some nice history and a nice building to visit and decent food/bar afterward.
If you want something real and hands on, tour a micro brewery (the MooBrew tour - at the old location was really good)
