I've been watching this one for awhile, Big W has had half a dozen sales and it's price hasn't moved so now is the time to strike. ⚡️⚡️

Good specs according to a sparky who recommended this in an online discussion (who am I to argue.)

RRP around $70.

  • So where's the deal? Still shows $70.

    • Try refreshing/deleting cookies? Its up for $48 (on clearance.)

Check availability and it drops to $48 +$9 del

      • Free C&C. Hopefully widely available, my local stores had stock.

        • About 6 stores showing stock in NSW…. system is pretty flaky though..

What value is it using this versus $3 ones from Bunnings

    • +3

      Come on mate.

      Heymix joins the chat…

    • These wont protect anything on their own, they do not regulate voltage. no powerboards do.

You want an AVR UPS (to regulate voltage) + a decent surge board (this one is good but the marketing overdoes it).

About as much extra value as using a Monster HDMI cable vs a cheap one from Amazon. Doesn't even have switches

  • +2

Did no research whatsoever. Am going to just trust your word for it. Got 2

    • +4

      Sometimes it's the best way.

  • So why did the sparky recommend this brand over others?

  • One thing to consider is the clamping voltage which according to their website sits at 710V, meaning everything in between 230v and 710v may be enough to damage your equipment already before it gets bypassed.

  • Need one

  • EMI/RFI noise filter looks nice. As does the grounded status led.

However $48 for a powerboard with no USB-PD ports? pass.

    • +1

You should see the Thor boards then.. best board around IMO. Very expensive but if you can find a deal they’re worth the money.

  • No info on the response time? Clamping voltage is a little high. Better than your standard Woolies one though, no doubt

  • This or belkin tho, last I read the belkin had good jules rating and a $100k repair on anything damaged

    EDIT:
    Crest vs Belkin bsv604au2m
    jouls 1800 vs 650
    repair $75,000 vs $30,000

  • Ironically I'm using a Kambrook powerboard in my lounge room (4K tv, PS5, Nvidia Shield and a DVR) living dangerously :P

  • Can someone tell me how it compares to something like this? https://www.centrecom.com.au/cyberpower-8-port-surge-protect…

  • Why don't they ever show the wall plug? I prefer a flat plug but doubt this will be.

    • Just picked it up. It's fairly flat.

    Lol $50 powerboard 😂🤦‍♂️

  • No Crest product I've had the displeasure of owning has worked properly, not sure I'd pay $50 for this with a bunch of cheaper alternatives of the same quality around

  • Just ordered 2 from a Sydney Big W for $28 each, pick up only. Price seems to have changed at other stores in the area.

  • $28 now in Big W. I'm sad.
