"Hi All!
I recently built a house and I am planning on getting tile flooring for the entrance, corridors, kitchen, and living area only. I prefer carpets in the rooms, and the wet areas have already been tiled by my builder. Now, I would like to know your preference: gloss finish tiles or matte finish tiles. It's difficult for me to choose one. What do you think? Keen to get your thoughts before finalizing

I lived in a house with gloss tiles. Keeping it looking clean was an absolute nightmare.
Walk across the floor and it instantly looks dirty.
It looks great in a display home but its not practical in a normal home. Although mine were white and this is just my experience, others may disagree. If you're going gloss, prepare to be forever cleaning them or just living with them looking dirty - they show up everything! I lived in a place with both light and dark gloss tiles and I'm not sure which was worse for keeping clean
Now, I would like to know your preference:
Why would you care about a bunch of internet randos and their preferences for something that's a personal aesthetic choice?
But to answer your question: Satin. The best of both worlds.
Why would you care
Because unlike you, they are not careless.
Gloss in the kitchen and matte in the bathroom.
matte in the bathroom.
The matte gets wet though..
Hard disagree. Oil splatter from the stove onto gloss tiles not only means constant cleaning, but it’s much more slippery on gloss if you don’t clean it straight away.
Gloss Vs Matt Tile for Home
I prefer Satin.
Gloss is the worst. They never look clean. Don’t do it.
White tiles are great if you're into regular cleaning.
Gloss is for walls esp in bathrooms.
Floors need matte. Check P rating.
I think the R rating is more commonly used, R9 to R13 for floor tiles. R9 is OK for accessible bathrooms.
R rating is commercial. P is 99% residential. Occasionally you'll see a crossover depending on the tile.

My error, P3 or R10 is required for accessible dwellings, including bathrooms.
Gloss are the absolute WORST tiles for a floor. I lived in an apartment for two years that had gloss tiles and it was a PAIN.
1) They show dirt very easy, so even though they may only be lightly soiled/dirty, it looks 10x worse
2) Any oil residue that gets on them from cooking etc will spread throughout the entire apartment
3) They are cold, lifeless and feel badMatt tiles. Gloss look pretty in a shop and suck at everything else for reasons mentioned above. Maybe on a bathroom wall but even then I’d take Matt on those as they are much more practical (unless you plans on making your house a display home)
Gloss for me.
Pros:
Very easy to clean.
Looks shiny.
Extra coating of protection.Cons:
Slippery on floors.Matte: Not as slippery as floor tiles but easier to stain and harder to clean because of uneven surface.
Can do something in between. We got tiles with a lappato finish which is like a semi gloss. Looks clean we hardly clean it (aside from sweeping the floor). https://www.tilesofdistinction.com/what-is-a-lappato-finish-…
Whichever looks nicer most of the time? I don't think you want sad looking tiles
Is it too late to get polished concrete? I hate grout so prefer any alternative to tiles.
“Why not both” she says then we throw her up in the air
