i want to buy one of these but I am not totally sure if will keep the phone in place, I mean if it will not move or wiggle when you are driving
having used one for a week, the swivel joint does kept the 'phone in place'. I'm sure the swivel joint will eventually wear loose.
personally i don't like to attach the holder to the windscreen, so used the plastic plate to stick it to the dash. unfortunately the location placement of the plate on the dash gave it a convex surface which resulted replacement of the suction cap with http://www.bunnings.com.au/products_product_hookscommand-pic…
In my experience they all vibrate and wiggle when driving. The big question to me is whether the actual suction cup is good enough to stay stuck on the windscreen for an extended period of time. In the cheap ones the rubber tends to harden over time and not provide good enough seal to securely hold it.
I agree. It becomes a driving hazard down the track should the phone or GPS fall out of it when you are on highway, let alone damage to your device.
for s3 is a bit tight, but its ok.. usable for $2+ holder.
I've purhcased a cheap one off ebay before (approx $5 or less) and after a while, the suction cup loses its suction with the windscreen and easily falls off.
it was good while it lasted tho

i tried a similar one from paddy's market (sydney) and it couldn't grab properly because tom-tom has the speaker thing behind makes it too thigh to grab, i went to BigW, super cheap auto and Ryde auto, ALL SOLD OUT…..gosh….
