$9.95 Kingston 16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive + Shipping $3.95

150

There is a cheaper deal if you wish to buy only 1 USB.
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/83804

BUT!
If you want to buy more than 1, this is a better deal!

2 x 16 USB = $19.90 + Shipping ($5.93) = $25.83 /2 = $12.92 each
3 x 16 USB = $29.85 + Shipping ($7.90) = $37.75 /3 = $12.58 each
4 x ….
and so on…

    Apparently really, really bad speeds…

EDIT: The TL;DR is 'worse than USB 2.0'.

  • edit; never mind, misunderstood

This mob doesn't seem to be appreciated very much on Ozbargain…. there seems some kind of communication problem and speed of postage with them also??

Shopping Square sucks @ postage/handling, never again !

      I agree. STAY AWAY!
I purchased 3 hdmi cables 3.5 weeks ago and they still havent arrived! When I ask them where they are they say "they will arrive soon".. Also they were sold with aust post tracking but when I ask for the tracking number "the tracking number we have is for internal use only, your item was sent via standard post, we do apologise"

      • I purchased a hdmi cable from shoppingsquare a few weeks ago and it arrived in a few days.

        • I got mine in 2 days. I guess I am only 1 of few or lucky…

  • Kingston manufacture a number of USB3 drives in the Data Traveller series, including the ultimate and the elite. This model is the bottom of the range with likewise performance.

I AM dismayed by the general junk billowing out from manufacturers ATM that I'd place a neg on this item were I a buyer, but I'm not buying, so I'll let it drop…although, I am legitimately put off by this USB '3.O' claim by a sub 20 MB/s write/read Kingston 111. Let It Be Known this is a below-par device & TY kirynflare for linking my inline thread September comment.

IF my funds were on a key this month I would consider MPN: TS32GJF700 (before this Kingston item) which, for write speed, might be considered mediocre but is distinctly a step above rubbish.

According to http://www.squidoo.com/best-usb-3-0-flash-drive, Transcend Jet Flash 700 comes out a lot closer to the theoretical ceiling/60 megs throughput x USB2. Of course remembering, drives are only as good as they are capable to write* - in this case its 41.54 MB/s, therefore a 12 minute drive - & importantly only '$0.8 per gb'.

<"Oh but my device will offer you reads meeting USB3 standard…">
*Ever hear of data being 'read' before it was Written? or Reads/sec is slower than Writes/sec?? I for one haven't and ignore such chicanery as offensive to common logic. We should see it as nonsense.
But in any case this highlighted Transcend drive most clearly meets USB3 60 MB/s access rate.

Other decent option is ADATA S102 32GB benchmarked ~ 50MB/s write, $30AUD delivered, that if I wasn't already with my 16GB Verbatim slug would be my next choice, under $30. Or Sandisk Extreme $3x.xx from the Shopping Square above100MB/s..won't be long before even that reaches $1-per gb.

      TLDR

    • So the well researched, detailed post is worthy of the neg now, gee thanks.

I didnt neg it, but for that now i will.

FWIW I haven't +/- anyone in this thread either way.

I would also add I experienced no problem with a microSD card arriving from ShoppingSquare in < 1 week, they have been around for some time with at least 99% of their customers generally appearing satisfied.

    • Excellent post. Thank you.

    • I opted for the 64GB Sandisk Extreme. Shopping Square/Apus (their eBay side) had them originally for $64.95 incl shipping, I don't know why the price has gone up rather than down. :(
