CPU from AliExpress Gamble

I just took a gamble on buying a Ryzen 7 7700 on Aliexpress, Just wondering if anyone else has purchased a newer cpu on there before? Paid with paypal, so I'm kinda ok with it if it doesn't work out, should be able to get my money back.

It could be an authentic item but the warranty claim will be impossible with Aliexpress. You can set up a dispute case if it breaks after 3 months, Ali will assist in communication with the seller, the seller can close the case by refunding a small portion of the amount paid and there is no further actions available from your end because the case has been closed and the CS cant do anything further to assist.

If you can live with a no warranty product, could be a deal.

    • warranty i'm not to concerned about, there are work arounds for that.

        what kind of work arounds?

        • should be able to warranty it direct with Amd.

no workaround if the CPU is dead/dies, and i've had a few AM4 3000 CPU die on me

    Comet Crash Global Store

The store name doesn't necessarily spark confidence 🤣

But they have multiple items with thousands of orders and multiple reviews, so you should be fine (probably)

But yeah warranty/return process will be non-existent

Interestingly the company name is "Wuhan Dacheng Shixun Technology Co., Ltd". It's uncommon to see a company outside of Shenzhen trading on AliExpress but not unusual.

  • I played $8.70 lotto and got $8.40 back in winnings.. best cheap fun i have ever had in years

  • I have a question Do CPU fails normally if not overclocked or doing extreme things?

My experience , motherboards fail but not cpu. Also is there a possibility to test whether CPU is used for certain hours, i mean they might send a used one as new one with proper packing as original?

    • Do CPU fails normally if not overclocked or doing extreme things?

Very rarely. I've had seen it a few times where you'll get real ransom slow downs and freezing. Literally replaced everything but the CPU and it still happened.

  • Why not just go down second hand path if money is an issue?

    • +1

money isn't a issue, Already have a 7700x, just couldn't pass up a deal. Not much around on the used market

    • i was considering the 7800x3d, but the 7700 was $190 cheaper. I was going to order a couple but didn't want to risk it

  • What is the difference between this seller and the one shown at the bottom of the page for $276 - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006060558493.html?spm=a2… ?

    • from what i can tell, nothing, store run by the same company i got mine from. the licenses are the same

      • They are so cheap compared to Aus sellers!

        • They're likely bulk tray CPU for OEMs, and sold at a very low margin of profit. For example, the 7800X3D seems to be going for ~470 AUD on Ali right now, with tax that'd be $517. Metrocom was selling them for $550 earlier this year, so a bit higher profit margin, but they're also running a business in Australia.

  • couldn't help myself and ordered 2 more

  • Just an update, 2 out of the 3 i ordered arrived today. Had to order 1 at a time due to 1 per order.

    • How was the product packaging and cpu is genuine?

      • the cpu was just in a plastic clam shell, wrapped in bubble wrap. Seem legit. Been running for almost a week and no issues
