2017 Corolla Caliper Pin Bolt Snapped

Hey guys, I snapped my caliper bolt when I was tightening the bolt instead of loosening it, I can't find any replacements online. Can you please tell me where to buy them?

I assume dealerships only the whole caliper assembly which is going to be pretty expensive.

Here is the pictures of the caliper and bolt

    Wreckers

    • Would wreckers only sell the calier pin and bolt only, or do i need to buy the whole caliper assembly?

They won't care, take the right spanner.

  • eBay or online automotive parts stores should stock them.

Ask toyota parts supplier. You might get a pleasant surprise (they may sell the bolt only).

A new caliper may not really be that expensive.

Cheapest option is to find a corolla locally and take your tools after midnight.

      take your tools after midnight.

And remember lefty loosey, righty tighty

    • If it doesn't sound right, do it at night.

Take the same bolt out of the other sides caliper and go to a supplier like https://www.unitedfasteners.com.au/ and they will match it

LPT: drive a different car to the supplier

  • Go to Toyota and make sure its the right size.

  • Search for broken bolt and thread repair specialists in your area, they'll know where to source one.

Is it the slider pin or the thing holding the caliper on to the wheel hub? sliders should be easily ordered in or go to your local brake specialist if urgent. should be under $30. if you want to order online you can do so as well.

    • yes, it's the caliper pin thats moves and the bolt that secures the caliper to wheel hub. Im gonna try dealership and brake parts specialist first then wreckers.

      Thanks for everyone's input

      • Before you go to a wreckers Google "torque to yield" and see if it's relevant in your case. I don't know shite about Toyotas bolts.

  • Ring Toyota… give them the Rego, they will lookup the VIN number and the get the actual correct part number from their spares catalogue.

    Just buy it from Toyota.

It's a single bolt, just buy the correct one genuine. It's not going to cost that much,

I need it asap, can't be waiting a week for the bolt

  • Easy fix. Just take it off the opposite side. /S

I'm pretty sure Toyota will sell the bolt separately. I doubt it would only be available as part of the whole caliper assembly. I'd call them as the first option.

    Don't assume anything.

Ask the spares dept at dealership, they often surprise with what is available as a part, and stupidly cheap as well.

Then, any brake specialist, workshop, wrecker or panel beaters as the bolt bisn can be a very good source of bits.

These are not available at nut n bolt shops, as they are a special design and torque setting component.

Again, don't assume. Hit the phones and ask the appropriate people the appropriate question.

    I guarantee you will succeed.

I have tried everything and no success. I went to toyota and order the bolts price wasn't that bad, x4 bolts for $12

  • Quite common for bolts of any sort on a vehicle to be a specific length. So buying even the same size from elsewhere will possibly be a few mm shorter or longer than the one on the vehicle. Besides that, items such as this can be really cheap from the dealer.

    • Yes i got the snapped screw out of the caliper pin
