Howdy folks,

Exciting day today as we've officially entered the era of bargain fishtank PCs*! The [Leaper Edge Tank case is a large ATX case with 7 x 120mm RGB fans. It's in a similar to the MSI MAG Pano in that the PSU is on the interior not behind a second panel, but importantly it supports ATX boards. An additional 120mm fan can also be added at the bottom for extra intake if desired. Full specs here.

On the MATX side, we have the exclusive first system builder access to the Antec CX200M RGB Elite compact fishtank style case, perfect for showy small footprint builds. This has 2 x 120mm reverse blade intaking fans on the bottom and 3 x exhaust fans (top and rear), for a negative pressure flow style design where air is constantly being pulled through.

*species/genus of fish may vary (or not actually be present)

Current shipping times:
- We're still quoting 5-10 business days and the majority of systems sold are shipped within this. There have been, understandably, comments on shipping times at the moment from customers whose systems haven't, and I'm always happy to escalate and assist wherever I can - that's 100% our job and responsibility. A few comments regarding selling PCs that aren't ready to go - we are ultimately building custom PCs where pretty much every line is customisable, so that's where the majority of the time goes in organisation, build, testing, packing, shipping etc. For the prices we charge, and other shipping times out there in PC land for even full price orders, we still believe we're extremely competitive and always do our best for the Ozb community.
- The last of the 12400F 4060 ITX builds were unfortunately held up due to an unforeseen RAM incompatibility between Team RAM and the Biostar board - we have resolved by getting more Kingston RAM in, so they are all being finalised now.
- We're aware of and have prioritised a few outliers in the various 4090, 4080 Super, 4070 Ti Super and 4070 orders from March, so they're heading out shortly.
- 4070 Ti Super and other orders approaching business day 10 are next up, and we expect to be hitting the estimate from there out.
- As above happy to check on statuses if you can PM me order numbers - posting comments is really hard to track so PM works a lot better for everyone.

Cheers
Luke, Caleb and Zac

      n8t anym8re!

      • Love your work.

  • guys 7800x3d or 14900kf?

  • +1

@luketechfast will the RX7900XTX and 7800X3D deal return? Tried checking out on the website but said out of stock.

    • We'll be doing AMD cards again yep.

      • @luketechfast Any ETA, if that's OK to share? Trying to budget ahead due to other commitments.

        • +2

This week or next, so before Easter

  • Tossing up the "AMD Ryzen 5 5500 | RTX 4060 Gaming PC"

Would mainly use it to remote into a work PC, office admin and exceptionally light gaming. would you recommend anything? no ethernet port in the study.

    • +1

This PC will easily meet your use cases (overkill even for the first two).
As for the lack of ethernet in your study, the website only offers adapters under networking for this PC, implying that you cannot install an add-on wifi card in the PC itself.
      (@luketechfast to confirm)
If you're fine with that, then any of their suggested will do - note though that results depend on how strong the wifi signal in your study is. The adapters without antenna will generally work fine enough with a strong wifi signal, otherwise models with antenna (like their $69 option) will be the go-to.

Hey, thanks heaps for the reply.

I ended up jumping on that refurb dell 7070 deal, cause as you said, this may have been a bit overkill.

Really appreciate the information and the effort. Have a great weekend

        • +1

no worries, and yeah, that Dell with 9500T was indeed a good deal, although (also as per comments in that post) no particularly feasible way to add a GPU so you'd have to do with the onboard graphics - will indeed have to be "exceptionally light gaming" :-)

  • Is it still a 5-10 day lead time if I get you to just send me the components (i.e. I assemble it myself)?

    • +3

We don't offer unassembled - have in the past but if something goes wrong it causes too many complications to be worth it all unfortunately, so we're sticking to assembled only.

tell me why this hp omen sucks & i should cancel it

    • -8

HP is an especially evil company.
      https://www.fairobserver.com/region/middle_east_north_africa…

Also much better CPUs in the deals above. Biggest cases with less proprietary pre-built parts.

    • Techfast has better CPU, cooling.

HP comes with Windows and a bigger and probably faster SSD + 1TB HDD. No idea about what PSU they use.

Both unfortunately use slower RAM, which doesn't make sense at this price point.

I don't think the HP sucks (unless reviews say it overheats).

      • true, it is also $333 less and i don't like the case used in the post rig.
windows 11 home itself costs a bit.
        also z790h looks like > z790p
i can live with the hp omen cooler.

        • +2

          Costs about $10 for windows

    • I bought the Omen 3080 before and their fans couldn't really handle the heat. It will be even worse when you put a 4090 in there.

If you are aiming to play AAA games at max settings (I reckon you will be), buy a case that allows you to add more fans + cooling system later, or you will regret it.

      • +1

i always leave the case opened.

        • +2

Unless you have the AC on or a big fan pointing directly into it all the time, having the case opened doesn't help with the heat, especially the CPU.

        • +2

Open case doesn't help. You need air circulation.

        • Having case open could end up with more dust as well, usually there is an air filters behind the air intake, so your case accumulates dust slower.

    • +1

Techfast has better CPU, better cooling for case and cpu itself (latter is quite important on higher end intel CPU's these days)
      Better GPU cooler most likely
Motherboard will have better options for control over ram and over/underclocking etc
      probably a better power supply

    • +1

I bought the same and it was delivered today. Did you recieve yours? I'm loving mine!

  • Hmm, comparison of the <$800 PC build options:

    • +1

I didn't think the $799 ITX build was still available? It's a killer deal if it is.

      • +3

Doesn't seem to be in stock unfortunately. Might it come back @luketechfast?

        • Also curious to know ☝️

        • +3

We're looking at it but have some outstanding orders to fulfill first because of the RAM situation above - want to make sure customers' orders are shipped before offering the same.

        • +1

Would also be very keen if the 12400F build came up again!

        • Also keen on the 12400f deal if it's offered again @luketechfast - ideally with an option for onboard wifi/bt motherboard!

    • 12400f is similar to 5600, which is better than 5500.

  • -1

Why're all these expensive gaming PCs using microATX?

    • Why does that matter?

      • Maybe it doesn't. Is it just cost saving trading out possible expansion for cost?

    • -1

Both of the 4090 rigs in this ad are using full size ATX boards…

      • Ah, I thought B650M meant microATX? "AMD B650 WiFi motherboard (MSI B650M Gaming WiFi on hand)"

        • +4

Sorry you are right re the AMD rig, I was looking at the wrong line. the Intel rig does use a full size ATX board.

I tend to agree that for this price, full size ATX boards should be used, but I also have an irrational distaste for putting an mATX board into an ATX rig. The B650M Gaming Wifi is a good enough board for a 7800X3D.

          • @xyron: Yeah, sorry I should not have said "all". I had in mind that Omen one linked further up in the thread as well that also appears to be mATX.

        • Yes that's microATX, the board used on the Intel build isn't however

  • +2

Still waiting for a 7500F 4060 deal. Maybe one day!

  • When will we get X670E, tho?

  • Hi @luketechfast how do we contact you regarding a recent order placed? I ordered from Techfast (#TF4883504549) on Monday and it's saying 'Order Placed'. Has this build commenced (i9/ 4080 super March deal), if not are we able to cancel/ modify? Do you guys have a contact number I can call?

    • +1

Email [email protected] and we'll get back to you asap. If the order was placed Monday it would be scheduled for assembly next week so there's time.

      • Thanks for that lightning fast response @luketechfast - I might ask for a cancellation + refund on this order if possible, and get the fully spec'd 4090 build in May instead thanks to the tax refund.

        • @akqrate Do Techfast agree your refund?

  • Hey @luketechfast,
for the AMD A520M in your website says: " A second PCIE device (e.g. network card, installed post-purchase) will not fit with RTX 3070 graphics cards and above". With the RTX 4060, will be possible to add a NVMe to PCIe 4.0 X4 Adapter to add a second NVME drive?

    Thanks

    • We've never tried so I really can't say mate sorry. In theory yes given the size and intent of a pcie extender, but the slot is definitely physically covered by the card so I just can't say.

      • Got it thanks, so basically you'd only have the option to have one nvme and other drives would have to be sata ssd

        • +1

correct yep that's what we know works and therefore offer. Your comment made me check and i noticed the SATA SSD option set wasn't there so I've added

          • @luketechfast: Thanks, what is the most probable psu brand you guys are using for this pc?

            • @edforums: Most likely the Allied A750, Giga P650B for the 650 bronze

  • -1

    55, 65, 75 HD 4K OLED?
    JPEG

  • +2

It's astonishing that they're using a bottom of the barrel b650m in a $4K build… Not complaining that it's B650m specifically, but that it's such a low quality one.
    Bit of a joke imho.
I'd expect this in a sub $2K build but not at this price point.

    • +1

The GPU does not utilise full PCIE4 bandwidth and does not pull more power than 75Watts from the motherboard slot. What difference does it make really? A good PSU and fast CPU is more important to handle the GPU.

      • +4

Of course having a good CPU and PSU is important. However, having a good motherboard is also important.
I also wouldn't call the MSI A850GL a "good PSU". It's acceptable at best. CapXon capacitors are relatively low quality, it's not very quiet, and much better can be found at the same price-point.

Back on the motherboard, you'd hope to have some future upgradability at this price-point, and this mobo will really restrict your options in the future.
Half the point of going for the AMD option (in my opinion) is to have the option of slotting in a higher end cpu in future generations. You can't really do that with lackluster VRM.

Anyway, I won't tell you what to / what not to buy, but I won't be getting this myself - it's not a balanced system in my opinion, they're just using the GPU to sell a whole PC.

        • Nah, I am not saying you are wrong in having a balanced system. I myself have a X670E motherboard. All I am saying is if the budget is limited OR for a given budget, Getting the highest end GPU/CPU combo for the money is the best bang for buck for that high FPS system. You can still get away with a cheaper motherboard and still have rock solid stability and FPS.

      • The GPU does not utilise full PCIE4 bandwidth

It does for loading LLMs into VRAM

        • Ah, good to know mate. Do you know if PCIE 5 offers any advantages? I am assuming no at this point?

    • The 7800X3D is effectively a 65W TDP CPU with its 88W PPT cap. I'd complain about low end board with anaemic VRM on Intel systems, but on this its a non issue. The feature set doesn't look awful either, acceptable number of USB ports. Zen 4 is efficient as hell to boot, the world record 7950X OC was done on the B650M HDV/M.2, the cheapest B650 board on release.

  • Im looking to purchase the $748 R5 - 5500 pc build. When checking out the site its charging me $948. Am i missing something? @luketechfast

    • +1

Did you add the coupon code?

  • Quickread the title, thought we were in for a $750 4090 build and almost fell off my chair

  • @luketechfast, any chance of a "parts-only" option. Looking to build as a learning exercise with my son

    • buy the parts yourself then mate

    • We don't offer unassembled - have in the past but if something goes wrong it causes too many complications to be worth it all unfortunately, so we're sticking to assembled only.

  • i just find it funny the intel system is using a 360mm

    • Why? It generates enough heat to warrant it

      • yea exactly

is the 5500/4060 itx deal coming back soon?

  • @luketechfast your address autofill doesn't pick up my address for some reason, is it safe to order without using the feature?

It will be fine yep. The address will be verified by Australia Post when we print the consignment label, and if it doesn't work we'll be in touch.

      • Cheers mate just ordered! Wife will be pretty happy I reckon (doubled the ram, added wifi, opted for 5600 and upgraded the psu), she's currently on a lenovo ideapad L340 lol

  • RTX 4060 and Ryzen 5 5500 for 748$ is a bargain I thought it was fake I said take my money I don't even care about easter delays for that good of a price :) I'm just happy I was able to purchase before they sell out

  • May I ask why the price I saw in the advertisement is different from the price on the techfast website?

    • Use the code.

  • Hi @luketechfast
I want to recommend one of these builds to a mate who isn't particularly computer literate, but am wondering what your warranty terms are like.
Will it include pick up and drop off, or postage paid?
    Cheers

    • We're in Adelaide so if he is he can bring it in. Otherwise in the event of a warrantable fault, postage is paid by us both ways during the warranty period.

  • +1

Cheers, bought the 5500. Made my teenage son very happy

    • Nice, thanks!

      • same here, son will be happy, not sure about the wife haha

    • We're based in Beverley in South Australia. We provide support via email via [email protected] or [email protected], or you can PM me.

      • I sent two emails to this mail address but no anyone answer me. Do you have any phone number?

        • I don’t think phone support is in their business model.

If you aren’t happy with that purchase elsewhere and pay more.

      • 20 W st? Whose is the Hummer :) ??
