Hi Farmos, how confident are you that this is the product?

Do a google search for: Ken Gargett This is balanced, long and offers some complexity. Love it.

Unless they use that phrase for multiple reviews you only going to get one result.

How is the wine different from the product available here: https://bergherringwines.com.au/products/6-x-2019-mclaren-va… for a RRP of $420?

    • I haven't tried the wine you posted, but as they are from the same grapes, region and vintage I would suggest there are some similarities

Would you say that the layers of lush blackberry in this compare favourably to, say, Ribena?

  • I've been very happy with my last purchase of the Prospera. Keen to give these ones a go :)

Just FYI - WineCompanion gave this 91 saying: "Hand picked from a single vineyard on Blewitt Springs sands. 75/25% shiraz/grenache, matured 14 months in older oak. Far from the zeitgeist, this is a rich wine of ample freshness and good structural latticework. Raspberry bon-bon, anise, menthol, clove and mocha, the signature of oak that still leaves its mark. Finishes persistent, spicy and a tad sweet. The acidity, too tangy."

    • "Halliday" judges are generally better guides imo. 95-6 points gives virtually no room for really excellent wines to slot in. If you find a Sam Kim etc wine in the 90-3 range it's probably pretty average/drink asap.

      • True - I still think $11 a bottle is a decent price for a reasonably good wine.

        • If you like grenache varietals, definitely.

  • Bought - everything points to it being Ulithorne ‘Chi’ Blewitt Springs Shiraz Grenache 2019 as pointed out by Farmos.

  • Looks like it's sold out - now $230 :(

Add to cart, it will reduce to $130

      • So it does - top tip! Thank you

  • Thanks. Just bought 1 carton.

    • I bought the ctn for my brother and he tried one. he thought it was probably worth $25-$30 a bottle. Definitely not worth the $50 RRP.

    • But what is it…

I'd be jumping on the 2019 Shiraz Grenache, it's a better wine

      • Bought a case, thanks :)
