Hey monicaaar, don't forget to put the $148 price in the title. JV is lurking!

    • +1

haha thanks, forgot cause I was playing games while submitting this. :)

  • +3

It was $99 a few months ago http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/71740

  • -5

bought it at $110 @ DSE a few months back. Why would you pay more?
    neg.

    • +4

      Why would you pay more?

Because it's not still available at that price?

      • Because waiting impatiently is a fool game when scoring a bargain. Personally I wouldn't bargain buy this when pre Xmas sales are coming soon. Currently if buying ASAP this deal is alright. Not the cheapest though.

    • -1

We got double standards user in this community, -5 negs while a poster above you list a deal cheaper in positive standing. Negative bandwagon in here are full of it.

      • +1

Wakkawalla negged the deal, matt_will_fix_it didn't. No double standard.

        • Yes because one neg and the other didn't, the negger shouldn't suffer more negs with a valid proof that the product is cheaper elsewhere. This neg-a-thon is just getting ridiculous.

        • No one has said the product is currently cheaper elsewhere. They both pointed out that there have been better deals in the past. One of them thought this was a valid reason to neg, which is why their comment was downvoted.

        • Oh you didn't read my post below wakkawalla, if wakkawalla personally think it was right to neg because this deal doesn't scream HOT than he shouldn't suffer the consequences of peers neg bullying.

        • Well I don't see negs at all now. Don't know what your thinking. SMH

        • Well I don't see negs at all now. Don't know what your thinking. SMH

His negative vote was revoked once a certain number of people downvoted his comment — see here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/83700/votes

if wakkawalla personally think it was right to neg because this deal doesn't scream HOT than he shouldn't suffer the consequences of peers neg bullying.

That's not how voting works here. I suggest you have a read of the voting guidelines: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

If you don't think it's a particularly good deal, the correct response is to not vote at all — you'll note that that's what most of us have done. You should only vote negative if there is an actual problem with the deal.

        • Well my beef is with that -8 neg post of mine. Buying this console when the new console coming out and costing about $5.10 cent per day till the end of October 30th, only to find that the end user wasted 148 bux when she/he found out there a new WiiU. This wii console will only stay relevant for another 28 days.

My math shows that buying the black WiiU bundle on the 30th of oct is much more smarter investment and will stay relevant for 5 years (average console life cycle). It will only cost the buyer less than 25 cent per day during those 5 years.

It like someone buying an iPad 3 only to find out that the 4 is out 32 days later. People will have buyers remorse and it really common sense that buying product near EOL is a waste of money. Granted it cost more than double of this deal and who in their right mind want obsolete tech before the new stuff.

Granted I shouldn't have neg this deal, I'll repent and follow the guideline more closely. As for the negs bandwangoner we got a lot of courtesy to be learnt. This peer bullying isn't really acceptable and mature. It just like child hood bullying targeting a single person when someone is perceive wrong (i.e. JV) kudos to you (JV) for sticking around with this community.

        • +2

I'm not sure you understand what bullying is — you negged the deal for an invalid reason, so people downvoted your comment to revoke the neg.

Actually, it turns out the console doesn't stop working once the new one is released. Funny that ;)

A lot of people like to wait until the end of a console's life cycle to buy it once it's cheap. By that stage, there is already a nice, big library of games available, many of which have been heavily discounted.

        • -3

          Too twisted reply.

      • +1

^This. He unnecessarily negged the bargain, indicated by his comment that says neg.
You know, for someone who claimed below to have spades of common sense, you're yet to display any of it.

        • Well have good night sir , that your prerogative. I don't give crap what you think. I just expressing this sentimental attitude that seem to be cultured in this bargain community with the neggings.

Right now I'm angry with disgust.

        • The feeling is pretty mutual, except that there are more of us, than there are of you :)

        • -1

Well here we are, back at base zero and a half.

  • you know that the WiiU (Nintendo new console) is coming on the 30th of this month? You can play wii games on it with your wii-motes.

    • +4

It will also be more than double the price.

        • +11

Sorry, I didn't realise this Wii would stop playing Wii games in a month's time. My bad.

        • +5

funny, looks like you cut your common sense up like you're making chicken adobo…i was your 6th - vote, you're welcome xd

        • +3

ChickenAdobo telling others they don't have common sense. Pot kettle black etc to you sir.

        • +3

ChickenAdobo is absolutely right, and most definitely not a complete derp.
All of my previous videogame consoles spontaneously combusted when the next iteration was released.

        • -5

Meh to the all neg bandwagon… I was only stating price per day: relevancy of obsoletion ratio. I got common sense, for the neggers GTFO.

        • +3

You still have no idea. The Wii will not be EOL for a number of years yet. EOL does not simply mean that the console has been superseded - it means that the company has dropped all support for it. Look at the PS2 for example; new games are still being released for that console and it was superseded six years ago. The DS got Pokemon Black and White 2 exclusively and that handheld was superseded 18 months ago.

Anecdotal evidence: I bought a Gamecube for $100 right before the Wii came out. I did this because it was cheap, and there were a number of exclusive games that I had never gotten around to playing in that generation which were also now very cheap.

Your logic and common sense are flawed.

        • -3

We are clearly a difference audience. I get it. You buy things that are obsolete that no relevancy to the day 1 buyers. Me I want the latest things. I already gave examples on a particular point of view as to why my reasoning (math example) is common sense. If you got particular problem with that than take your beef elsewhere.

As to the EOL thing , I was clearly on about the system cycle for console gaming which then to be 5 years. The wiiU can play wii games.

Also there benefit buying launch console. My launch wii can use ranges of modchip and have GameCube ports.

        • +5

We are clearly a difference audience. I get it.

I'm not sure you do, because you keep arguing, even though no one is actually arguing against you. No one is trying to tell you you're wrong for wanting a Wii U on launch day. What you're doing wrong is trying to force that view on everybody else.

Of course there are advantages to buying a launch console. However, there are also advantages to buying a console at the end of its life cycle — specifically the lower price point, hence its relevance on a bargain web site.

This has nothing at all to do with common sense. Your maths is based on the flawed assumption that no one would want to play the Wii once the Wii U is released — that's simply not true. I could hypothetically play the Wii every day for the next five years, and it will have only cost me $0.08 per day.

Again, if being able to play games as soon as they're released is worth the extra money to you, then great — that's a perfectly valid viewpoint. You need to understand though that other people are perfectly happy playing games years after they've been released, in which case a lower-priced Wii is a better deal for them.

        • +4

If you got particular problem with that than take your beef elsewhere.

Please, please heed your own advice.

        • Well enjoy that 148 bucks obsolete wii door stopper. I will enjoy my new toy in 28 days playing in HD and my replaying wii games.

        • +1

Enjoy your "next gen" console with many features inferior to current gen PS3/X360s :)

        • -1

Lol no one is telling me that I'm wrong for wanting a wii u on launch day. Well the negs say otherwise…. Also I wasn't FORCING anyone to buy a WiiU. I was only stating a reasonable opinion as to why buy a wii now is a waste of money now. 99 bux should be the price norm in 30 days. Those per Xmas catalogue.

Also if you think WiiU is expensive then THINK again. The last time in 05/06 ps3/360 were $1000/$700 on launch day and you factor in Australia bs gaming tax the wiiU is considered dirt cheap as launch price. You can play your wii games and be more future proof in the coming days.

Yes you can continue playing that wii which will only cost 8 cent a day and play that SD graphics while the mass market are buying their full hd tv.

        • -1

Lol trolling at its finest. @puff derp

        • +1

Lol no one is telling me that I'm wrong for wanting a wii u on launch day. Well the negs say otherwise…

The downvotes weren't for you having an opinion, the downvotes were for you claiming that anyone who disagrees with you is wrong and lacking in common sense.

No one is trying to convince you not to buy a Wii U. I'm sure it will be a great console, and I sincerely hope you enjoy it :)

        • +1

All is good then we going to have to agree to disagree, finally some closure… I won't be discussing this any further and won't posting why "i'm right" on this internet site. Yes I will be enjoying my new WiiU in the coming days. As for those buying the Wii, enjoy it…….

  • +1

already listed here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/83509, but easily missed…

  • +2

Think the new version of the Wii you cant play gamecube games in and also the option for a controller has been removed

    • +2

thats actually quite a valid comment, these being new wii's may not be compatible with gamecube games either

  • so is this a good deal afterall?

    • +1

It's the best deal going around at the moment, but there have been better deals in the past, so it's a pretty good bet there will be some better deals available over the coming months, what with Christmas coming up and the Wii U's impending release. It really depends whether you're happy to wait or not.

      • thanks!
