got one of these for $114 last year, love it. its a square shape which works better than the circular options.

Yep pretty happy with mine, only used it about 5 times so far however.

I'm about to buy a steamer tray that fits inside to get some more usable space in there as it doesn't fully feed my fam with one layer only. It's about 23cm (9") internal diameter for those who may be wondering.

Use mine all the time as airfryer, have used the dehydration once and it worked fine.
Only time I've had a problem is trying to cook a whole chicken in there, the tray isn't really big enough for this. Still worked but had to fiddle around.

While the air fryer itself is awesome, Ive found the tray coating to be pretty terrible. We only handwash with sponge, not even the scourer side and no soaking but the coating has rubbed off to the silver bottom. Got a replacement from manufacturer and it was the same thing within a month. They said it's still safe to use but wouldn't tell me what it was made of, google seems to say Teflon which has conflicting views on whether it's safe or not.

    • Teflon is not safe to digest if it is wearing off the tray onto your food, is a proven carcinogenic. If it only comes off from agressive washing possibly less of an issue but i wouldn't trust a compromised coating. Look up PFAS and the contamination by foam/powder firefighting equipment for research into the issue.
There are different types of teflon (pfas is a broad category of similar chemicals), more modern higher quality ones are supposed to be less toxic/bioaccumulative but then those probably arent the ones that are getting rubbed off by a dish cloth either.

      • This was their response when I asked what the coating was

'We are not sure why you have experienced this issue, as it seems you are following our use and care instructions (recommend washing by hand using soft sponge (do not use scourer) or place in top rack of dishwasher and do not use metal utensils). We also recommend that you wash the tray after it has completely cooled down and do not soak in water.

We confirm that the tray is BPA/PFOA/PTFE-free with no chemical coatings '

I wouldn't say aggressively washing since it's just to clean the grease off.. Seems like they were trying to avoid answering the question directly

    • I came accross a couple of web posts about this quite some time ago, so it's not a new or isolated issue.

One person's advice was to fill with hot soapy water after use and let it sit fir a while before coming back and wiping it out.

      No need to scrub.

      • Ehh.. I've tried that, soaking in vinegar/bicarb, even threw it in the dishwasher - made no difference .. Doesn't clean well, or scrubs the coating off.

I've taken to putting baking paper or foil under things that I can about.

    • Just for the interests of others reading, we've had ours for two years and used 2-10 times a month. Used mainly for heating frozen items such as Tegels Chicken Pieces, as well as frozen chips and pies. Also baked potatoes in there, and have 'boiled' eggs in there for soft boiled eggs. Cleaning it is always a breeze and almost only takes a quick wipe with a damp cloth or a rinse under the tap and quick soapy sponge before drying. Coating has stayed on no problem.

Providing this as just additional feedback, and also shared what is cooked in there as it is generally not very messy food and the odd thing here or there on nights we need something quick, or don't want to heat the whole oven (eg baked potatoes).

Works great and cleans well for our usage.
