No such thing as a desk without wobble. The parts telescope, so there is always wobble although the design does affect how much

From the pic it looks like a standard frame and you might as well buy a Fortia off mydeal. Same base, different top, $300 cheaper.

Personally I have a Fortia. Tho it's my wife that uses it so my experience is limited

    • Yeah I had similar thoughts upon looking at it, I've seen others that are genuine 4 leg sit stand and I imagine that's what you need if you want to eliminate the wobble

I have an updown and a desky, can confirm zero wobble with both.

Although I do prefer the desky, the worktop is a much nicer finish.

      • 100% recommend Desky. Got one late last year and it's been incredible. Got the cable management basket and the magnetic cable routing thing that sits on the back on the leg to hide the cables.

Honestly impressed with the desk and build.

I think Updown and Desky are the same from the pictures when I was looking at it last year.

    • Link to Fortia please?

About wobble, if you push it surelyit wobbles.

As long as it doesn’t wobble at highest height for typing and writing then it qualifies as doesnt wobble

      • Too many variants of size and top. Go to mydeal and search for Fortia. Mine is 120kg iirc and extends taller than many others. Two motor version. You'll need to check specs to be sure of what you're buying

    • Ikea Idasen don't wobble. That's why I bought it.

    • Stick enough weight on it and it will wobble no more. Speaking as the owner of a $150 hand crank job from Aldi.

Edit: I mean wobble while using, I think wobble while adjusting is a given.

    • (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

    • Yep, if there's value here, is not immediately obvious. Been very happy with my mydeal sit stand for about $300 delivered (ozb deal). I don't notice any wobble.

  • What's the difference between this and the $200 one I wonder

    • Exactly. Got this one from Amazon last year and it’s surprisingly good for the money. If you really want a nicer table top, slap on one of those Bunnings FJ boards. https://amzn.asia/d/6Vr3u4A

That (and other cheap desks) only supports 80kg. Updown supports 150kg.

The one you linked is not even dual motor.

        • +2

i guess 80kg is, in most cases, more than enough for a normal desk?

i got my dual motor desk frame + bunnings timber board = $244 for a solid wood panel 1800x
600 standing desk, can't complain at all.

  • I love my recycled messmate one. gorgeous wood and finish!
can vouch for their service too.

  • Anyone know where I can buy linak brand desk actuators and accessories?

  • I've installed about 10 sit/stand desks over the past 12 months and certainly don't remember all the brands however my point is if you build them correctly they'll be fine… NONE of them wobble, just build them properly!

The most recent were a couple sold by Coles for $299 each. I estimate 120x70cm as they needed to fit into a smaller space but the drive units would take 150cm at least with telescoping drive bars..

My expectations were low but most holes were pre-drilled and those that weren't just needed an impact driver to add the extra screws which had been provided anyway. An hour to build each done well with cable looming etc.

My other advice is that I've only ever seen one of those ten ever be moved from the base/first position. Most people just can't be bothered to change desk height, myself included. I'd rather got for a walk around the office etc.

    • Any base recommendations for a counter size 2000mm X 800mm depth? I take it I'll need a dual motor?

Was thinking of this one AIMEZO Height Adjustable Standing Desk Frame, Dual Motor 3 Stage Electric Sit Stand Desk for Home Office No Desktop (Black) https://amzn.asia/d/6BpA7Zm but open to cheaper options that you've tried!

  • i recently bought this from kogan…. https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kamprads-oikos-1943-oikiture-st…

Quite sturdy up or down. easy to build. quiet movements. didnt come with a cable management tray, but bought one off ebay for 20 bucks. had it setup now for about a month, and am happy with it

Size Name: Dual Motors Standing Desk Sets
Colour Name: White Frame + 150cm Walunt Top

    • I don’t know because I haven’t bought either.

But since my study is upstairs, I don’t want to regret and have to change

      My effort is non refundable

  • Still so expensive. Is this worth the price or are there better cheaper alternatives?
