Anybody have direct experience with Kogan TV's? I only need a cheap one with ok picture quality. I bought a different cheapie a few years back but it has terrible lag.
I'm looking at this one for TV and streaming services…

My 43" is a little older than that, still going strong. Built in speakers are useless but aren't they all now. I just wish it was a little brighter for daytime use.
Ive had good experience with Ffalcon 50" 4k great picture and sound from JB does need a good chrome cast though
Personal opinion is there are three levels of display quality when it comes to TVs. For example.
Kogan (and similar)
Cheap - Worst image qualityHisense (and similar)
Budget - Reasonable image qualitySamsung (and similar)
Expensive - High image qualityMy point is if you go into a store and look at TVs side to side I find that Cheap vs Budget is a huge leap and the budget TVs are much better, but Budget vs Expensive the leap isn’t as huge.
I tend to agree with your theory but even Kogan has their cheap and then budget range. The TV I'm looking at appears to be in the budget category and I was looking for somebody who has owned a similar model to give their opinion.
Samsung & similar big brand companies absolutely have their entry level budget shit as well.
It's pointless to try and group based on brand name, as each model will have very different quality, and sometimes the cost doesn't match the quality (in either direction). Yes, you can assume very rough rule of thumb that cost = quality, but if you care about quality, either don't buy one you haven't seen in person, or at least look up reviews.
I bought a different cheapie a few years back but it has terrible lag.
If you do not learn from your mistakes, you are doomed to repeat them.
this is the Ozbargainer way!
When you mention the lag - Does this mean in the menus, or the actual display?
I'd like to buy one to game on, you see …
The TV I was talking about was not a Kogan brand, some other cheapie from JB
Right. But the lag was in the menus? As opposed to display related?
TV update… Very happy with the TV. Went with QLED 50" and I have no major complaints. The only gripe is the menu is a bit slow. It was for my 84 year old mom and she is happy. I'm not a hardcore tech guy but my current TV (house-sitting for my brother) is an 83" LG C3 which is ridiculously amazing. And comparing it to that I am still not unhappy.
Have a 43" LCD 4K for about 4 years. Haven't died yet. Image wise you might be lucky because you are getting QLED
