iPhone 5 16GB for $749??

Here is the link:

I don't know whether this website is safe or not. Never bought anything from them. But the price seems OK as it is really hard for a bargain of iPhone.

As I am not sure whether the website is safe or not, I post in forums, any thoughts?

For an extra $50 you can buy one direct from Apple… I would just spend the extra and buy from apple.

You can't pick up an iPhone in store unless you reserve one online currently.

You can buy it online and have it delivered.

        • yea, neither way can we get the phone immediately.sigh….

    I will be very cautious…

    • Domain registered less than 2 days ago (24 Oct 2012)
    • Domain registrant information is masked. No legitimate e-Commerce business should do that.
    • Website is not doing any analytics scripts, which is a bit odd for an e-Commerce website.
    • Doing a search on ASIC turned up "Quay Phones Pty Ltd" ACN 160 935 893 in Leichhardt NSW. Registered on the same day as the domain (24 Oct 2012). There is however no result on ABR search.
    • Seems like a spam web but somewhat not.

  • I would buy directly from apple - only $50 more.
Might have a bit of a wait, though.

Unfortunately I didnt not do my home work and purchased an iphone5 from this site. Later that night I get a text message from the bank saying they have blocked my credit card. The next day - I call up the bank and ask why they blocked my card - tey said there was some unusual activity on my card - I am 100% sure it was from purchasing this phone. They racked up about $2000 in purchases in 30mins around midnight.

The bank is able to block the transaction however - as I knowingly purchased a phone from their website - they were unable to cancel that transaction.

The phone has not arrived and I am in the process of claiming the money back from the bank as fraud.

Wish I had of done a bit more research.

    • Thanks for the heads up!

Good luck on retrieving everything back too.

    • and yet they mention this on their website

Notice to all customers: PLEASE NOTE ALL IP ADDRESSES ARE RECORDED WITH YOUR ORDER. IF THERE ARE ANY FRAUDULENT ORDERS, APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES WILL BE INVOLVED.

  • Update - Westpac investigated - they couldn't say if it was this website that used my card for fraud - but Westpac have refunded the lot.

Have not heard a word from Quay Phones - KEEP AWAY

Try ringing their phone number - I bet you do not get a response…..
