Sony WF-1000XM5 NC Issue When Connecting to The Phone

Recently I bought a Sony WF-1000XM5, before I connected to my phone, NC was working fine. However, once I connected to my Samsung Galaxy S21, NC stopped working. I have reset/factory reset it but no result.

Then I contacted Sony and sent it for repair and they said there was an issue is NC and they have fixed it. On return, it seemed to be working but as soon as connected to my phone, NC stopped working again. Do you think my phone killed the NC or is it just a faulty product?

I sent it again for a fix but haven't returned it yet.

  • Is there an app that you can install on your android device that manages the settings / NC / EQ tuning on your sony earbuds? Have you ever performed a firmware upgrade?

    My Bose and Razer headphones have their own companion app that I use to configure settings for headphones.

    • Yes there is a app by Sony, and yes I have updated the firmware, no luck.

  • Can you try connecting to any other hardware than your phone to test?
    PC, tablet etc…. if it works on other devices and not your phone, well then…it's probably your phone.

    • Well once it's connected to my phone, NC get killed.. even after I uninstall and disconnect the app.
      The second time around, I will try with another device first, hopefully it works.
