$30 down to free… what am I missing here?

Save as PDF no longer exclusive feature of Adobe.
So this kind of app probably have diminishing value nowadays.

      • Correct!
Who wants to do this an an android device anyway.
If on an android device you just want to open and read a PDF.
Usually SAVE TO PDF is done on a PC and plenty of Free PDF creators to choose from.

Silly question, but can this be used on PC?

I actually used this recently when Sony was refusing to honour a warranty! There eBay store would only accept JPG files and I needed to send them the invoice. This program did a great job of converting a pdf.

      Just screenshot the pdf file?

      • Nope, this was less effort. Screenshot would be impacted by the size of my phone screen resulting in unreadable text.

        • -1

You do realise if you open a screenshot of a phone, that it won't be the size of your screen elsewhere, right?

  • Does anyone know a good guide about converting an essay, book or magazine to PDF, on Windows, using a scanner and/or a camera. What software is best to use, which settings/compression to use to get relatively good quality with only a modest filesize, what to use to add an OCR layer (or even fully replace the raster text with digital)? The PDFs I have vary enormously in quality, size and OCR-izness.

There is also the proprietary Djvu format which apparently can yield smaller file sizes than PDFs. For some reason a lot of old chess books are in Djvu.

I have ever only scanned isolated images from artbooks or magazines, and that was a long time ago. I still have my old flatbed and assume it still works (its about 18 years old), but it was very slow at higher dpis (600, 800). I assume modern tech is much faster.

      Tl:dr yes

Just what I needed - an app to turn movies into pdf files.

Now all I need is an app to convert my photo collection into audio MP3s.

    • just rename jpg to mp3? thats how you can create random noise

I have a billion dollar idea, hear me out:

      You know how audiobooks exist?

I present to you the audiophotoalbum.

Close your eyes as you hear your cherished photographs described to you with the dulcet tones of Morgan Freeman's voice.

      • There is an app that I have seen recently that with AI converts Wikipedia articles to audio books, you choose the voice tone, style etc. So your idea sounds achievable.
