  • Good post - finally a baby one!

    • hi if i do this in different transcations would i still get the points?

  • GC inception with coles MC?

    • Don't forget to use the Coles MC to first buy Shopback Supermarket cards, then buy the Ultimate gift cards with those.

      • -1

You cant buy gift cards with gift cards at woolworths

        • Shopback Supermarket cards are prepaid VISA cards. I've used them multiple times to buy gift cards at Woolworths.

          • @tbone74: It is true that ShopBack Supermarket gift cards are functionally prepaid Visa gift cards, but that does not necessarily mean Woolworths will always let you use that to purchase a gift card. For example:

            • A number of Woolworths staff members have told me over the years that you cannot use any kinds of prepaid gift cards to purchase any gift cards (although that sounds like something staff would usually have to enforce themselves).

            • Someone said in September 2023 triggered an Items Not Allowed error at the checkout when trying to purchase a Perfect eftpos gift card at Woolworths using a ShopBack Supermarket gift card as the payment method.

            • @WookieMonster: Coles only recently disabled the ability to buy gift cards with gift cards

            • @WookieMonster: I used the Shopback Supermarket cards in October 2023 to buy the TCN "Gift" cards from this promotion.

              • @tbone74: Used the same steps today. Used Coles prepaid $250 Mastercard (purchased at a discount during recent promotion) to purchase $200 Shopback Supermarket prepaid VISA (with cashback). Used that to purchase 2x $100 Ultimate gift cards (and received $20 worth of EDR points).

  • So 1x $100 gift card = 2000 points = $10 off shop.

Works out to essentially 10% off these gift cards, right?

    • Yes

    • +4

Not 10% off but an additional 10% value
not quite as good as 10% off

      • -5

How did you work the math out? It's 10% off if you convert the bonus points into money off future purchases

        • +7

          Example gift card amount $500

With this deal, you need to spend $500 to get $50 back

If it was a 10% off you would only need to spend $450 to get $500 value

I don’t know how to do the math but I bet it’s around a 9% discount

            • +4

@patso: If it was 10% off you’d only have to spend $450 to get a $50 benefit

In this instance you have to pay $500 to get a $50 benefit

Therefore it is not “10% off” it is a bonus 10%

              • -2

@Brick50: Wokeworths is as good as cash. You will spend with them sooner than later even if it's not on Straya Day merch.

              • @Brick50: Think of it this way:

You buy a $500 phone from me and because you’re nice at the time of sale, I decided to give you a $50 off instantly, so you only pay me $450 which is 10% off.

Second scenario is you pay me full price at the time of sale which is $500. But somehow I decided to give you $50 back the following day, making the phone $450.

Either way, it’s 10% off, not 10% bonus.

Edit: maybe it doesn’t matter in the end whether it’s “off” or “bonus”

              • @Brick50: Then you use the $50 bonus when you buy $500 worth of goods which ends up costing you $450 which works out as 10% off. So it’s just splitting hair in the end.

          • @Brick50: Maths please(or more precisely - arithmetic).

The discount version ($450) is an ~11% bonus, this is exactly 10%
            450*X=500
            X=1.1111 or 111.1%

If you want to be pedantic you'd also have to factor in the value of normal bonus points.

      • -1

If you are not converting to Qantas points, Woolworths points are worth at most 96% their face value.

        • Qantas points would be even worse

        • How so? Overpriced Ww goods or the relative cost of points ($1=1point at Ww)
If I earn 10,000 bonus points ($50) I can actually add value by then spending it on 'specials' (and earning 50 mre points in the process) - assuming the special is real. As ever check competition prices and quality.

  • Daylight savings calculation makes the deal show as tomorrow rather than Wednesday.

  • See you all in the freezer and pet food section later

When will the Netflix gift card coming?

    • They had a $12 Amazon credit the other day.

  • Terms talk about variable load but description indicates excluded, or not mentioned as included?
Baby & Mum and Student don't say excluded, but specific denomination is stated. Are any variable going to work?

    • +3

The more often these deals happen, the longer the T’s & C’s get & more exclusions.

    • +1

Last time I checked (which was yesterday), Woolworths does not stock Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards nor Ultimate Students gift cards in a variable load denomination.

Now I think about it, I have never seen a physical retailer stock physical Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards nor Ultimate Students gift cards in a variable load denomination.

If the above is true (at least for Woolworths), it means there are no variable load denominations included in this deal.

Thanks WM, as always your depth of knowledge astounds me on these deals!

  • Also cheers to @RichardL for letting me post. Only for this week. Promise.

LOL, despite being a power-poster, @HamBoi69 trying to get still more posts under his belt. Much appreciated, @HamBoi69 😆

    • Nah I’m normally not around on Mondays at 5, but due to the public holiday in Vic, I was today. Richard was a legend and let me post. Otherwise it would’ve been a dupe race.

  • Unethical life tip - If they run out cards in the promo, just buy any other ultimate card of one of those listed but in a value not incuded in the promo. Go to the everyday rewards online app and message their helpdesk. Ask when the bonus point will be loaded and when they tell you you got the wrong cards, act confused and disorientated and they will credit you the points as a 'good will gesture'. They are capped at crediting up to 5000 everyday rewards points. Ive done it twice, worked both times.

    • +1

      That's cheeky, but I like it… :p

    • +2

Good will gestures sadly will no longer happen if/when everyone starts doing it though…..

      • Thanks! I’m looking at Special gift cards for Woolworths because it’s 10% off for Amex. Would it be okay?
        https://www.special.com.au/shop/woolworths/

          • @HamBoi69: That is not the correct FAQ to link to. That FAQ is for gift cards issued by Woolworths Group.

Special gift cards (including the Special card for Woolworths) are issued by Special. A conversation on the related Special/AMEX deal shows that people have recently been able to use Special cards for Woolworths to pay for gift cards at Woolworths.

            • +1

@WookieMonster: My apologies. I opened the commenter's link and saw the gift card image and assumed it was the standard Woolworths Supermarket Gift Card. Comment unpublished.

              • +1

                @HamBoi69: All good.

You’re not the first person (nor last person) to think that the Special card for Woolworths is the same as a Woolworths Supermarket gift card! The Special webpage does not make it very obvious their gift card is different (or dare I say, special).

  • With limit of 5 cards per day, can i purchase more next day and get same points
Also is there a limit on how many I can use at officeworks?
Am looking to spend 1300 at officeworks if I can use these

    • +1

With limit of 5 cards per day, can i purchase more next day and get same points

      Yes.

Also is there a limit on how many I can use at officeworks?
Am looking to spend 1300 at officeworks if I can use these

Yes, there are limitations. You can read more about them on this FAQ (and the FAQ page is linked towards the bottom of the deal description).

  • Is there any stores listed that will allowe to buy Netflix cards with the gift cards listed?

I just realised my 12+ months of Netflix credit on my account had expired from the last flybuys/Netflix load up at the start of last year and now I'm 'stuck' paying full price direct debited monthly.

    • +1

      I would say no, because:

      • It is against the terms and conditions of Ultimate gift cards to use them to purchase any gift cards or vouchers at any participating merchant.

      • The only participating retailer I am aware of that currently sells Netflix gift cards is Officeworks. The issue for you is that Officeworks has a gift card policy that states you cannot use any gift cards of any sort to purchase any gift card at Officeworks. Officeworks has also gone the extra step and set up their sales systems (instore, online and over the phone) to automatically block you if you attempt to purchase a gift card using an Ultimate gift card.

      • +1

Thank you for the thorough explanation.

Guess I'll go back to wishing for another Netflix gift card promo.
They used to come along every couple of months, but looking back through the deals it appears I bought up in the last promo and there hasn't been one since.

  • Confirmed vanilla visa can still be used to but these

  • Confirmed Shopback Supermarket card worked!

But the checkout at JB was giving me shit about exchanging to Apple Giftcards even I have confirmation from online chat as well as other employee in the same store on the same dat before I went ahead and purchase. Luckily the store manager approved it.

    • Did u go vanila -> shopback supermarket -> ultimate -> apple gift card?

      • No I didnt have vanlia card coz I am in Vic

    • In all fairness to the JB Hi-Fi checkout person, what you were wanting to do was against JB Hi-Fi’s gift card policy and the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions.

      • I don't think shes wrong saying no to me but I did triple check with 2 different JB reps before purchasing ulitmate cards.
I should have read the T&Cs instead of asking them

        • The fact that you had two different JB Hi-Fi employees say you could purchase a gift card using an Ultimate gift card probably made it difficult for the store manager to say no to you.

As you can tell, the JB Hi-Fi gift card policy with respect to Ultimate and TCN gift cards is currently only policed by staff themselves (rather than enforced by the checkout)…

  • My local Woolies was cleared out of everything other than kids $30 and a couple of student $50.

    • Yeah no everyone cards. Just want them for the Uber vouchers.

  • i just got a $100 ultimate everyone gift card - i want to redeem this for an uber voucher - when i go online it asks for the card number, ccv, and an expiry date.. the card i have does not have an expiry date.. anyone else successfully redeemed this kind of card before?

    • +1

You need to go to the balance check website for physical Ultimate (Visa) gift cards to view the expiry date for your particular gift card, as Ultimate gift cards uses at least two different expiry dates for physical Ultimate (Visa) gift cards (which is the type of Ultimate gift card you have). You will need to enter the PCN on the back of your gift card (i.e. the long number starting with 6039).

Keep in mind the expiry date you will see on the balance check website is only the expiry date you use for purchases or adding to a mobile wallet or exchanging for an eGift Card. If you scroll down the page, you should be able to see the month and year the balance on your gift card will expire (which should be either three or five years from the date of purchase).

    • +1

There's a note that comes up on redemption saying if it's a physical card, use 12/29 as the expiry. Redeemed 2x $100 last night using that method. Hope you got it to work

      • thanks i eventually got it to work with that expiry, cheers

  • For anyone interested, Youfoodz joined the Ultimate gift card scheme earlier today.

The only gift card in this deal that saw Youfoodz added as a participating retailer was the Ultimate Everyone gift card.

  • In case I use these for an in-store purchase at Officeworks do you think I would still be able to get 4x flybuys on top of them because of my onepass subscription?

  • @WookieMonster (since you always have the answers like a champion), do you know if the Good Guys will work on the Mum & Baby card if it's not printed on the card?
The $100 cards don't have the Good Guys logo but I suspect it's just older stock, presumably all retailers on the website would be fine if not printed on card?

    • +1

Your guess is correct. The Ultimate Baby & Mum gift cards you saw will work at The Good Guys.

If you want a full explanation, have a read of this FAQ.

      • +2

Thanks mate, you need to setup a 'buy me a coffee' or whatever where we can donate for al you hard work!

  • How can I use ultimate kids and teens cards at jb hi-fi online?

    • Just been figuring this out myself because I hate having to work through a dozen GCs at the checkout.

The process is outlined here (search the page for "How many Ultimate gift cards can I redeem on the JB Hi-Fi online store?"): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/gift_card_deals_retailer_f…

      In summary:
      Go here: https://exchangeyourcard.com.au/

Put in your card details (expiry is 12/29 from FAQ here: https://exchangeyourcard.com.au/Faqs)

Exchange for a JB Hifi Gift Card that you can then use online.

Haven't actually used them yet because I need another $500 worth tomorrow, but I did receive all the JB Hifi eGift cards via email and randomly checking the balance of one shows the right amount.

Sadly there does not appear to be a way to exchange multiple Ultimate GCs into a single, larger value JB Hi Fi card (or if there is it doesn't seem obvious).

      • +1

expiry is 12/29 from FAQ here

For the Ultimate gift cards currently stocked at Woolworths and the packaging pictured in this deal, that is correct.

However, the Ultimate gift cards in the newer packaging (which I have not seen at Woolworths yet, but I have seen them start cropping up at BIG W, Coles, Kmart and Officeworks) use a different expiry date for purchases or exchange purposes. You can confirm the expiry date for purchases or exchange purposes on your particular gift card by going to the balance check website for physical Ultimate gift cards: https://www.myprepaidcentre.com.au/home

Sadly there does not appear to be a way to exchange multiple Ultimate GCs into a single, larger value JB Hi Fi card

        That is my understanding too.

      • Thank you. That works!

  • Plan to use Ultimate Teens in-store at Timezone. Do I need to activate this card online or something before taking in-store?

    • Nope. Activation occurs when you buy the card.

      • thanks for that.

  • I've got 2 ultimate gift cards that I want to combine together to spend at the one shop. I didn't realise these gift cards treated essentially as a debt card. Anyone know of a hack on how I can use these 2 cards together at one shop, online and in-store?

    • +1

Most stores allow splitting payments across multiple cards when in store.

For online, some retailers allow online exchange to their own egift card. You can then shop online and use both cards at one of the many retailers that allow entering multiple gift cards during payment.

You can check which retailers allow exchange to egift card here.
      https://www.ultimategiftcards.com.au/all-retailers/

      • Thanks I figured a workaround hack to it.
Use the 2 x Ultimate Gift card to buy 2x store gift cards. Then pay the remaining amount with other payment methods (credit card, paypal, afterpay)

        Whoo winning!

        • Does the store not let you split payment across different cards?

  • The Woolies catalogue T&C's don't mention any purchase limit (that I can see). Is the 5 x card limit just a standard rule?

    • The terms and conditions for this gift card are split across two pages of the Woolworths catalogue. You can see the 5 gift card limit mentioned on page 38.

You can also see the 5 gift card limit mentioned on the instore posters advertising this deal.

  • -1

    I received a differen offer:
Shop selected Woolworths Group & Partner Gift Cards this Easter (at Everyday Gifting) and you’ll collect:
    • 1200 points when you spend $180
    • 1800 points when you spend $250
    • 2500 points when you spend $350
So they need to be purchased onlie at everydaygifting.
Doesa anyone know if paying for these with my cedit card will be treated as "cash advance" and incur a fee and interest? I remember reading something like this somewhere cbut can't see it in the T&Cs
